Catalina Direct sells 50’ lengths of what they refer to as sheer stripe tape. Has anyone removed the older tape on their boat and replaced it with new tape? Reading the description it seems the tape is really tape, not a decal type product that is frequently used for boat names. I’m looking for suggestions on how to remove the old tape and apply the new.
Thanks for any feedback

Re: Replacing sheer stripe/cove stripe tape
Our experience replacing it was that it was a decal type stripe not tape. Applied with soapy water, removed with a heat gun (carefully). You will need 2 rolls of 50' to do both sides.

I've used Debond Marine Formula. Works fast, no heat, won't harm gel coat. Good luck.

Re: Replacing sheer stripe/cove stripe tape
Realize tha packs thread, however:
Hello all! Appreciate the suggestions for removing sheer striping and glue. I found a heat gun coupled with plastic razor blade to be the most helpful. Before removing anything I took sharpened pencil and marked top and bottom of stripe. Then using heat gun I removed striping @8” at a time with heat gun on low. Then to remove glue/sticky backing attached to hull:
1. Spray on 1st Ayd 976A degreaser to cleared 8” area. Wait 5 mins.
2. Use plastic orange razor blade to scrape gunk towards middle, then use clean terry cloth to pull off from hull
3. Spray on more degreaser and use fresh terry cloth towel to wipe off area
4. Use flexible metal ruler to mark top and bottom lines, then
Repeat for next 8” section
I did try the 3m wheel, but it left difficult—to-remove brown marking on hull. To each their own, I just liked above technique even though it took longer.
Question is- with hull cleaned and marked, does anyone have suggestions for applying new sheer stripe to ensure it’s even and looks good as new. Likely applying it solo. Any and all suggestions are welcome.
