Hi Guys,
Behind your companionway ladder, just above the shelf, on the right hand side, there is a wooden panel that covers two anti syphon valves.
The larger one connects to the engine's exhaust elbow and the heat exchanger. Check that hose!!
When I recently removed that wooden panel, I found that hose to have surface cracks and rust spots indicating some leakage. It was pretty much shot.
As you normally and periodically check/inspect your engine, this hose is not visible unless you remove that wooden panel.
Take the 5 minutes to remove the four screws on the wooden panel and check yours. Take another minute and check the "duck bill" rubber anti syphon valves located under the plastic screw tops.

Also, a good idea to remove the screw-on valve and clean the rubber "duck bill". Salt deposits can eventually clog it. A 2 minute job.
Certainly if it is making noise or water is coming out the duck bill, time to service it.

My vented loop behind the companionway stairs makes a sqeaking noise for a few minutes after engine start, is this normal?
Thanks,

Clean the duck valve by unscrewing the "top" of the valve and it will likely quiet down.
