Schaeffer 2100

Post by Windseeker »

Last year I let the cage fall off the furler into the Chesapeake Bay. I figured it would cost $100 bucks to replace. I'm learning that is a $500 mistake. The part number I am looking for is 45-236-A. I need two pieces. They do not need to be brand new as the furler is 12 years old. Is there a "junkyard" to find pieces like this?

Am I being cheap, or does $500 for two small pieces of metal seem high? (Welcome to boating, right?)

http://www.schaeferhardware.com/SearchR ... goryID=380 has the part for $260.
I feel your pain. I saw the basket for the Perko sea strainer underneath the aft bunk could be replaced. $60-120 for a metal basket 1 inch by 6 inches! It may be cheaper in the long run to replace the sea strainer with a Gerko.
