Dinette-Berth Conversion on 2003

Post by BillBerner »

Hello all-
I am about to become the new owner of a 2003 350.
Can anyone tell me if the hardware, cushions, and folding bench were standard at that time, or an option.
Is there a "typical" place where the bench is stored.
Thanks very much. Looking forward be being a part of the group.

Quick answer. We have a large table and a small table. The big table will store behind the headboard of the aft cabin covering the window. We also have a cushion for converting the table down to a bed. There are short posts for the table for this. Whether they were standard or an option, I can not since I was not the original owner.

Bill, congratulations on the new boat. I'm sure you'll really enjoy it.

I'm not sure what "hardware and folding bench" you are referring to. There is a small table in the middle of the starboard settee that has a cushion to convert into a seat. If that is what you were referring to, I believe that is a standard item.

The dinette conversion cushion and bench are optional items when ordering your Catalina 350. I store the cushion, and fold up bench at home in a closet, permanently.

The Bench just about fits along the forward wall to port, when not in use. Barely. We usually toss it in the aft cabin ( read : Garage ) . We also found that neither of the stock table tops met our needs. The Large one is just too big for the two of us living aboard, and the cocktail table is worthless. So.. I made my own table "organically". We took a 2'x4' piece of MDF and started living with it. Once a week, we decided what to cut off. Over a month, we came up with an in between sized table that is perfect. Oriented one way, we can seat 5 ( 6 ) and still have room to serve, use head, etc. Oriented the other way around, it's just right for living on the port settee ( my side of the boat ).

Happy to help. I will also attach two images to show the two orientations.
Made out of MDF, topped with a veneer, then acrylic clear coat.
Dimensions: 36" x 24" ( actually an 1/8" less both sides )
Locations for the pedestal socket:
Near ( in photo ) 10" in from short side, 7.25" in from long side.
Far ( in photo ) 23" in from short side ( near ) , 9.25" in from long side.
Your measurements may well vary as the deck brackets are not always posted the same.
I will post this to the general group with the images.
