Looking to buy a 350

Post by malexander24 »

Just put out Catalina 30 up for sale and are on the hunt for a 2003 to 2005 model. Are there any critical issues that I need to be aware of when checking out a 350?

Hello Mark and welcome to the C350 web site.
Aside from having any prospective boat checked by a competent surveyor, here's a couple of things that come to mind. I'm sure others will add things I've overlooked.

Fuel filter bracket service bulletin - http://www.westerbeke.com/mdtools/servi ... sb_247.pdf

Anti-siphon kit upgrade from Catalina - http://www.catalina350.net/phpBB3/viewt ... ?f=11&t=52

Steaming light problem - http://www.catalina350.net/phpBB3/viewt ... ?f=10&t=90

Prop cavitation issue - http://www.catalina350.net/phpBB3/viewt ... f=13&t=138

Thanks, that is exactly the type of info I was looking for. We will be scoping out 3 Cat350 this weekend.

We saw 3 Catalina 350 this weekend in Virginia. Two of them had the veneer delimitating of the wall. One had the spreader light missing parts and one I could see had the old filter bracket. 2 of them have potential. There are 3 more in Florida that we may take a peek at too.

Had the survey on a 2004 on Friday. All looked good except for two issue.
Head would refill after flushing and cutlass bearing had some play with only 108 hours on the engine.
Should be taking possession at the end of March.
We are very excited for our next, and probably not last, boat.

Mark,

Congratulations on the new boat. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. If you've read the forum, you probably have figured out that your commode needs a new joker valve.

Good luck and enjoy.
