My Icom Command II remote mic works, but has a very weak transmission. I borrowed a working mic from a friend and it operates the same on my boat. I connected both mics to the back of the below deck VHF eliminating the cable run and both still have weak transmission. The below deck VHF mic hardwired to the VHF works fine, so I am assuming there are no antenna problems, although this problem originated after the hurricane damage that required removal of the mast.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can diagnose the issue?
Thanks

Re: Weak Transmission from VHF Remote Mic
Gary & Janet,
Based on what you described, the problem is with the remote microphone circuitry in the radio, or you have some setting(s) for the remote mic set incorrectly.
I'm basing this on the hardwired mic working fine and that you plugged in two identical remote mics and both cause the same problem.
I have no experience with the Icom VHF, but I do love their ham radios.
Maybe their website has a users group you could tap into, or give their customer service a call.
