Calcium build up in Holding Tank Fix

Post by Bob_A »

As a brief follow up to the previous thread I just wanted to post that I just could not bring myself to dump acid in the tank where it would be impossible to see what it may or may not have done to the fittings / hoses etc.
So I pulled the tank out, removed all the fittings and pressure washed all the calcium carbonate out. Approx. 10 lbs. ( a PO gift)
I posted also in response to another owner's HT issue in the Head Forum so I wont repeat here.
I will say provided the HT is flushed clean beforehand that this is not gross at all but it does require the removal of the port forward lower shroud.
If yours is like mine and you did this without then I have a prize for you.
Unfortunately the Catalina chain plate assembly must come in or out from the top which means releasing the deck fitting to get it up and out.
The good news was the fitting was as new and the core was perfect too. Good job Catalina, you actually countersunk the bolt and fitting holes!
Happy to elaborate if anyone wishes to venture here.
