CO Detectors

Does anyone have a recommendation on a good/great Marine CO detector?
I run my AC off a Honda 2200EU suitcase generator on the swim platform.
I have seen some on West Marine and Defender for about $100/ea
I would prefer a battery only [usually Litium] vs hard wired 12V.
Thanks.

Hi Mike,

I just tried using a Honda eu2200i for a/c on my 2005 350 but I could not get it to work.
What is your secret? What did you have to do in order for it to work? This has been driving me crazy trying to find these answers.

Thanks
Ed

Hi Ed,
I had to get a “soft-start capacitor” installed. I did not actually do the installation myself as I am not that handy. So I don’t know how to guide you through that process. Everything else on the boat has to be off and I did not start the generator on eco-mode.
The generator with then start for me 9 out of 10 times.
Still occasionally for some reason it would not.

Mike,
I went with a household detector with 10 year battery life. As far as I could find, there’s no difference from a “marine” model.

I purchased a soft start for mine,

Easystart 364 from microair.net Call them first and let them know what model a/c and generator you're using. They're very helpful on the phone, also ask if they have a promo code... I think they saved me $10 or $20

They will also walk you thru the install, Worked for me on a Dometic 16000 with a Honda 2000
