I need to remove old caulk and replace with newer. What would be the best choice?

Hi Rick,

I would be using Butyl Mastic (off white) on mine. If you use Sikaflex or other strong bond getting the piece off again would be a PITA.

Have you asked Warren Pandy at Catalina?

Probably the safest answer

I recommend "Marine Formula" It makes 5200 turn to a soft putty that you can remove with a putty knife. Do not buy at West Marine, buy direct at Debond Corp. https://www.debondcorporation.com/
or on amazon DeBond MF12 Marine Formula (12 Oz. Aerosol)
West Marine substituted on me and it was not the same.
This stuff is great. I used it to remove and replace the anchor plate, over 70 in sq. took 25 minutes to remove and 10 minutes to clean up.
Good luck. Follow directions.

I have the same issue with the old calk cracking and drying up. It does not appear to serve any structural purpose and it seems the area underneath is designed with drainage so I dont think there is a big need to keep water out either. That said, it doesn't look very good. Has anyone dug out the old calk and replaced it? What type calking did you use and how did it turn out?

Thanks
