Dripping Hull

Post by yodagwb »

The boat has been out of the water for 4 month. When painting the bottom I noticed a very slow drip coming from where the cutless bearing attaches to the hull, not out of the end of the bearing it self. Naturally I checked the inside at the shaft seal where it was bone dry. I can only assume at this point, that this is typical and that the water injection at the seal is designed the push water into this portion of the hull which in turn acts a lubrication for the shaft bearings. My question, is this typical, are others experiencing the same, no need for concern reguarding water from this part of the hull?
