Steering shaft info requested

Post by Olivia Mae »

I'm planning on installing a Lewmar folding wheel on our boat.

Can anyone verify whether the steering wheel shaft on a 2003 model year boat (hull 53) is a 1" tapered shaft or 1" straight shaft. The parts breakdown figure I found on the Edson site shows a tapered shaft for our pedestal. I won't be up to the boat for a couple of months, so can't verify this.

Mauri Pro Sailing does sell the one that has an extra hub, and fits both shafts for a decent price. It also lists one that just fits a tapered shaft for 80 bucks less, so if it is a tapered shaft I'd rather save a few bucks.

Thanks.

Does anyone have pictures of a folding wheel installed and folded on their C350? I’m seriously contemplating this upgrade but unsure of how much real estate it would really recover.
