Raw Water Strainer

Hi Folks. Has anybody relocated the raw water strainer to someplace more convenient to inspect?

I'm thinking in the forward engine compartment, port side. It's easier to lift the hatch below the steps.

How about installing a bigger one? My Cat 34 had a much larger one.

Any insight appreciated.
