Electric Winch

Post by tranquil »

Greetings

Has anyone replaced or converted to an electric winch -starboard side, cabin top/cockpit winch that is used for the main and jib? Underneath this winch inside the galley ceiling is a screwed plate that I am told has wires for connecting an electric winch.

Tranquil (2004)has a main that furls in the mast. I've seen conversion kits as well as new electric winches. Would appreciate sharing of your experiences.

Thanks
Teri

Raise Me Up 417 on Lake Texoma was equipped with roller furling main and electric Haarken winch, the motor for which is accessible above the screw plate above the AC vent on the starboard side. Unfortunately ours just seized after 13 years and got on notice board to see if anyone had replaced a motor for it???
