Hatch Maintenance - Silver exterior part

I noticed that the silver/aluminum portion of the hatch covers on the top of the boat are beginning to corrode/pit slightly. Anything that can be used to keep them in good shape for as long as possible?

Anything needed to be done to the rubber around the inside of the hatch other than keep it clean?
