Early last May, 3 of the local boats (there's 4 that I'm sure of) got together at Blake Island State Park - which turns out to be only a few miles from downtown Seattle - for our first attempt at a rendezvous. It turned out to be a bit of a rainy trip, but we all enjoyed the chance to meet and compare each others boats - hey, they all look quite a bit alike at this point.
Shown in the picture are Gato Gordo - Mike and Karen Walling - who sailed up the 20 miles from Tacoma - they have the white dodger. Behind them at the dock is April IV, and across the dock from them is Mary Kathleen - which belongs to the Piwowarski's from Port Orchard.
Just a few days ago, Lorrie and I spent two weeks cruising the San Juan Islands and who should we bump into but Mike and Karen on Gato Gordo - taking the same two week time period to visit essentially the same cruising area. We crossed paths several times with them, and some other Catalina owners, and had a great time. Shown in the picture is Gato Gordo and April IV tied to the State Park dock at James Island. We had just had a very windy, bumpy night and were both headed in the general direction of home - between 60 and 80 miles to the south for the both of us.
One other picture shows Gato Gordo Wing and Wing, sailing across the Strait of Juan De Fuca - Whidbey Island in the background.
