I would like to hang a Grouper zinc over the transom for added protection while at the slip. However I'm not sure where to attach the clamp. I understand it must be attached to a "grounded" part of the boat. On a 2008 Catalina 350 MKII, what part is grounded and within reach to the zinc clamp? Appreciate your advice.

Re: Grouper Zincs
John,
Catalina does not have a bonding system linking all the exposed metal parts to a negative ground on the engine. This means that you would have to connect your "grouper" directly to the engine. I guess you could run a wire from the engine to a fitting or terminal on the deck but this would be a lot of work for potentially little return. Just keep a close eye on the zinc in your heat exchanger and shaft and you should be fine.
