Alternator Type P?

Post by Triumph »

Question for the electrical/mechanical sailors ... I'm looking at a used Link 2000R Xantrex battery monitor which has an alternator regulator too. It says "and alternator output monitoring. (For use only with 12 or 24 volt “P” Field type alternators.)" OK ... do we have a "P" type alternator?

More than likely ,if you have the original alternator, it is an N type with a built in regulator. Most of the newer after market alternators are externally regulated and are P types
