Marco Island to Coon Key Inland Passage

Post by TBOT422 »

Has anyone taken a C350 from Marco Island to Coon Key via the inland passage (avoiding going around the Cape Romano shoals). There are 2 fixed bridges that are supposed to have 55 feet clearance and it appears there are also several shallow spots. I was wondering if this passage is even possible in a C350. I believe the mast height is 52 feet plus the VHF antenna?

Any local knowledge would be appreciated.

Thanks

Active Captain comments shoaling to less than 3 ft at R10 near Goodland. Need 2 ft of tide for 4.6 ft draft. We have never tried it. You can get from Naples to Marco on the inside; we have done it on a rising tide.

We cleared the Cape Coral bridge (barely), charted at 55 ft but reported to be 53 ft at MHW, with tide board showing 54 ft at 0.6 ft above MLW. Cleared a number of 55 ft bridges OK.
