Finally!...repairs underway

Post by Golden Handcuffs »

I finally was able to drop my boat off today for repairs from hurricane Ike. Delays involved rebuilding the boatyards, sorting out insurance, dealing with a lousy boatyard (using a different one now), ordering parts. Current tab for the repairs is in excess of $20k and includes:

fixing a lot of chewed up fiberglass
replacing some stanchions
replacing the bow and anchor pulpit
re-doing the hull stripes
replacing the rub rail
bottom job and waxing

It's been a bit heartbraking; we only had the boat about a month before the storm, but oh well. At least financially, we'll pretty much break even. Progressive insurance has been EXCELLENT to do deal with. The boat needed a bottom job anyway, so that pretty much takes care of the deductible. With luck, we'll have her back good as new in a few weeks.
