Latch open the aft cabin door.

Post by SeaBreeze78 »

Somewhere in a old Catalina Forum paper or maybe a Mainsheet article. I saw the obvious answer to my issue with the aft cabin door closing and stopping all ventilation into the aft cabin. They put and 5” hook and eye from the nav station front piece to the front of the door. Similar to the one that holds the V-berth door open. I could only find a 4” hook. I think it works better, since it hangs just a little below the Nav Station front panel. Any longer and it could interfere with you sitting at the Nav Station. Since the hook would swing back and forth when not latched. It would eventually scratch and arc in the wood. I cut the side out of a used OJ bottle. Then I put a section of Alien tape 1 1/4” wide on that strip of plastic. Then trimmed both. Once applied it is almost invisible to the naked eye.
