Cabin window crazing

Post by lyle »

My main (fixed) cabin windows are starting to show extensive crazing - I am assuming from the sun even though on the West Coast we don't seem to get too much of that! Has anyone else experienced this? From past experience I know this will eventually happen over time but it seems to me that it is rather advanced for a 4 year old boat - especially one in a moderate climate.

That doesn't sound right. My hull is 208, and mine still look new. Maybe it's something that was applied to it? I would think that you'd get 10-15 years before you had bad crazing. My boat sits in the hot Florida sun all year. Somethign is wrong here. I think you need an expert to look at the problem.

My fixed cabin windows are clear, no sun damage in SW Florida. Hull #165
Have you cleaned them with any type of cleaner that had amonia ?
Ban all products with amonia from your boat ! It will do a lot of damage.

I have the same problem. Started when the boat was ~2 years old on #377.
