Folding Bench

Post by SiegmanM »

Hi,

I remember some traffic on how to keep the legs of the folding bench fastened in place. Does anyone have suggestions on how to 'lock' them in?

Thanks,

Folding Bench

Mike,

I used a couple of short screws to fasten two little .5" plastic cups (kind of like bottle caps) down low and near the edge of the legs opposite the hinges. I then put a spring loaded curtain rod in the cups and expanded it to hold the legs in the open position. To add a little extra safety, I also wound electical tape around the spot where the inner telescoping tube of the curtain rod exits the external tube. I have also added velcro to the cushion and the bulkhead to keep the bench in place. (Velcro tape will pull away from the veneer without harming the finish.)

Next time I'm down to the boat, I will take pictures and post them.
