We purchased "Outstanding" hull #472 new in 2008. After being hauled for the winter last fall, I noticed the collar zinc was severely deteriorated. And unfortunately there is only room for one collar zinc on the small shaft. It has been recommended that I add a "grouper zinc" which is hung overboard while we are at the slip. However the instructions with the "grouper zinc" require that it is clipped to a ground on deck that is ultimately grounded to the prop. I am not very electrically inclined and have no idea what items on the deck or below of the 2008 Catalina 350 are appropriate to attach the "grouper zinc."
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Zincs
High John! Here's a couple of links to other discussions on zincs for our boats.

(includes a picture of the "prop cone zinc" that many/most owners use due to the very small amount of exposed shaft that you noted - also visible in the picture.

A more recent thread with some part numbers
There are numerous other mail-list threads on the subject. My money (good for the last 5 years) is on the prop cone zinc set up - which has a "permanent" piece attached to the shaft, and a replacable zinc fit over that piece. Replacable in the water with minimal tools (or so my diver says.....).
Good Luck!
