Raw water pump Universal M-35B

Post by H Lechler »

After 195 hours on the engine my raw water pump is leaking. You have to bend down to look at the weep holes of the pump to check for rust and moisture. Look now before the pump fails and replace it. The new pump and slightly larger brass clamps run about $320. I will submit a warranty claim to Universal and let everyone know what the outcome is.

Water pump rusting

Post by Copacetic »

You know, the same thing happened to me on my Catalina 36 MKII, after only after a year. I'd blame Universal. Darn, I should of painted the new one, too. It looked out of place, not being gray.

Raw Water Pump Leaking

Post by Last Boat »

With less than 200 hours, my Raw Water Pump is leaking also. It really looks like the housing is rusting away. My dealer has made contact with Westerbeke for a replacement. Will let you know the progress.
