Access to holding tank plumbing

Post by EvenKeel »

Once last summer, we overfilled the holding tank and pumped some nasty stuff out through the vent tube. Since that time, we've been getting a typical odor in the head, and the little bit of water in the main bilge smells like sewage. We have fresh water injection and the shower sump is clean. I fear that I may have sprung a leak in the vent hose or blew it off the hull fitting.

There is what appears to be an access panel above the door to the holding tank, behind the little shelf. It is fixed in with screws and caulked. Can I reach the vent and pump-out plumbing behind this panel? I don't want to cut through all the caulk if it doesn't lead anywhere.

Thanks-

What's behind the access panel

Go ahead and cut the caulk and remove the screws because everything you want to access is ther. Good luck in finding the leak.
