Raw Water Pump Replacement

My current Sherwood G908 pump is failing on my M35B and I'm looking to replace it. I've read some conflicting stories about replacing it with the Oberdorfer N202M-908. Some articles say this is a direct replacement while others indicate that some modification may be required. Also another article talked about folks seeing steam in the overboard discharge because the flow rate of the Oberdorfer is not as much as the Sherwood. Appreciate any feedback on this topic.
