water in the bilge

Post by jrohrbaugh »

I have had an unexplained increase in bilge water lately. I have checked everything I can see including the shaft log, PYI fittings and clamps, the fresh water system, etc.

I finally "tasted" the water and it looked fresh but had a slightly salty taste. (hope I don't contract any illness from this test)

Any ideas?

I know you checked the FW system but on Esperance (394) I have had the hose fall off the aft tank draining the contents into the bilge. Access thru the Stbd. aft lazarette hatch. It was a simple fix to reattach and tighten hose clamp...

Hi,
I would check for a leak at the bow. If you look under the forward mattress, right at the bow there is a storage compartment and you can see traces of a leak from the bow at the bottom of this compartment.
