In the latest Mainsheet it was reported that ICOM were being very helpful to US owners in replacing, free of charge, cords to the remote mic that had hardened/yellowed/split, even if quite old. I live in Australia, have same problem and contacted ICOM Australia, was told firmly "At this moment, Icom Australia does not intend to apply the same policy here in Australia".
So be thankful you are North American!
