Engine throttle and shift control cables
Has anyone replaced the throttle and shift cables? If so I would appreciate info on what the replacement cables are, i.e model, length etc. Also, any insight on connecting to the throttle/shift lever would be great as it looks pretty complicated.

Re: Windlass service is easy, and I found a leak
I looked at the manual and it shows the widest part of the seal on the bottom, which I recall is sort of a flap that presses down on the area around where the shaft disappears under the deck.

Re: Windlass service is easy, and I found a leak
The leak is most likely coming from the ring seal under the drum and clutch components. Remove the drum, clutches, (basically all the moving parts you can remove from above deck) and you will find the ring seal which goes around the shaft under everything else. I have found that every year or two th...

Re: Caulking
I have the same issue with the old calk cracking and drying up. It does not appear to serve any structural purpose and it seems the area underneath is designed with drainage so I dont think there is a big need to keep water out either. That said, it doesn't look very good. Has anyone dug out the old...

Aqua lift muffler
After completing the damper plate replacement today, I noticed rusty stains on the shelf where the back of the aqua lift muffler is strapped to. I removed the muffler and discovered a drain plug right on the bottom where the back end sits on the shelf (making it impossible to use it without removing...

Re: Damper Replacement
I am getting ready to replace the damper plate and note that when putting a wrench on the rear motor mount nuts the entire mount wants to twist, presumably due to the rubber inside the mounts. I plan to put a little liquid wrench on them to see if it helps. I would be curious if others had this issu...

Re: Water in the bilge after rain
I am interested in knowing if you ever traced your leak from the limber hole in what I assume is the rib near the bilge pump float switch, and if anyone else has experienced a similar situation?

Leak on port side seems to come from where deck liner meets
I am finding moistureon the port side from the head compartment to about halfway through the cabin. Upon removing things the moisture seems to be coming in where the deckliner separates from the deck forming recesses for wiring etc. The stanchion bases and holding tank waste deck fitting all seem fi...

Re: Damper Replacement
Jan King, You mentioned you unbolted the motor mounts and slid the engine forward, and then lifted it with a 2x4. I am thinking about changing the motor mounts on my engine so doing the damper plate as you describe may be my best bet. One question, how did you use a 2x4 (where did you place it, was ...

David,
I would be interested to know how your experience with your new prop is progressing. Also, can you tell me what engine you have, is it the Universal M35b?
Thanks,
Bill

I would be very interested in knowing the cost of the splash guard and how it is mounted. Also, the engine panel where in my case the gauges are fine but the panel itself is looking bad.

Re: Intermittent Overheat at start up...
I would check the seawater strainer and raw water seacock. There may be some debris which intermittently blocks the flow of water, possibly creating a complete seal and blockage when the flow increases on initial throttle up. I know of a case where a small fish was stuck in the seacock and moved up ...

Fuel lift pump
I think my fuel lift pump may be starting to go bad and was wondering if anyone has experience changing it out. I think there are two types, one is square shaped and one is cylindrical shaped. I believe I have the square shape unit on my Universal M35B. During replacement was there a lot of fuel spi...

Re: Removing Coupling From Shaft
I am getting ready to do this again myself and had the boat yard do it last time at great expense. I would be interested in learning more about the two-part coupler; where did you get it and how well does it fit given there is very little room between the shaft seal and the transmission.

See my previous post below with pointers on this job. As I recall the entire assembly, tie rod and all, is pulled up through the deck. Not a real hard job but don't let any parts fall down between the hull and liner.

raydar cable replacement in mast
My old Raymarine C80 chartplotter has finally died and I am thinking about replacing it with a Raymarine E97 which also requires replacement of the old analog radome and cable with a new digital model. I believe the newer cable is a bit smaller than the old analog cable, but am still concerned about...

Re: Coolant Level Question
I found two sources where coolant was leaking. One is the clear plastic hose that leads to the plastic expansion tank which i replaced with heater hose, and the other is the fitting at the water heater. As I recall I did climb down through the port side after removing the shelf and reached around th...

I don't recall the size. I remember taking the plastic assembly to the hardware store and comparing parts.
