This is not an uncommon problem, and is caused by a poor connection between the cord and receptacle. Poor connection= Resistance. Resistance= Heat, particularly at high amp loads. We are currently in Green Turtle Cay, Abacos.

Will be in the Abacos most of the winter before heading back to Texas.

We varnished ours-- Captains Varnish. Look great and protect the wood from drying out/cracking.

The seal kit is: Kit P90003 seal kit. VW 800 windlass. Maxwell 714 689-2900. Ours was leaking from the gear box to motor seal as well. Removed the motor (two bolts). Drove a screwdriver blade into the old/leaking seal and removed it. Used a socket slightly larger than the ID of the seal to drive it ...

Let us know what happens after you clean/replace the anti-siphon valve on the head intake.

Is it located high enough that it does indeed "break" the siphon.

Our 350 (#180) was recently PHRF rated 174 with: Furling Main, 135% Jib and 3 blade Autoprop.

And Vindaloo finished first in her class (PHRF non-spinnaker) in the 2006 Harvest Moon Race from Galveston to Corpus Christi with at rating.
