Re: Knot meter difficulties
I also pull the transducer out after every sail. A fair amount of water comes in but a sponge and bucket takes care of it. I have been doing this for years without any problem. Not only does the transducer not foul, I think it is safer as there is less chance of water leaking through the blank plug....

I wonder if this is a replacement for the Catalina 34, not the 350? This would be my bet

Re: Honda 2000i
I would appreciate your effort to check out the water heater ability. I have been looking at the Honda EU2000iA, which is the current model number I guess. It claims to have an output of 2000 watts at 16.7 amps. Looking at the Seaward water heater literature, it appears that a 10-amp AC circuit is n...

Re: Honda 2000i
Now the big question, will this Honda operate the hot water heater? It seems like it might. I also have been contemplating the purchase of the Honda 2000 series.

Re: Mark I Refrigeration Insulation Upgrade
I wonder the same thing. I also can't help but wonder why the countertop cannot be removed. I thought Catalinas were designed to make everything user-serviceable and removable. Even if it is a difficult job, it would be nice if Catalina could provide instructions about how to remove the counter as i...

Re: Mark I Refrigeration Insulation Upgrade
I am very interested in your effort to do fiberglass as an alternative to cutting pieces and gluing them in. In your discussions with Warren Pandy, was the possibility of removing the countertop above the ice box discussed. Though likely not minor surgery, if the countertop could be lifted off, pres...

Re: Engine Hoist
You should have a jamb cleat on a sleave that fits on the mast below the pully. This allows you to run the line down to the pully on the mast and lock in in place while standing in a dingy or fighting with a bimini top with the standard setup. email me at wvanwagoner@verizon.net and I can forward yo...

Re: leaking chainplate
Thank you for forwarding the link for a C34 chainplate repair; this is the first response I received on this topic. I guess this is a good thing meaning the chain plates do not leak often on our boats. I should point out that the C350 (at least on my hull #229) has a different chainplate arrangement...

Re: How are the rope cluthes secured?
There are threaded aluminum plates molded inside the deck where deck hardware is installed. The screws holding the hardware down srew into these plates.

leaking chainplate
Has anyone had to fix a leaking chain plate? I have a leak at one of the four bolts holding the ball and socket chain plate assembly for the main portside shrouds, which penetrates the deck in the head compartment. I am trying to determine how to go about disassembling all of this to re-bed with cal...

Re: Engine Hoist
I just purchased the lifting davit from Garhauer because they have a custom setup for the C350 that does not require bolting any bearing end plates to the fiberglass etc. There are two cylindrical aluminum castings that mount on the stern pulpit outboard of the stern perch seat. Then a well machined...

Re: Mainsail shape
I have the older Charleston Spar roller furling mast and don't know much about the Seldon, but it sounds like you do not have enough halyard tension. New halyards do stretch a bit. My halyards are run through blocks at the base of the mast and back to the cockpit where you can use a cabin top winch ...

Re: garhauer ez glide genoa cars
Bob, I purchased the middle model E-Z Glide system (I think it is the G-2UB) with the optional swivel cam cleats, which are for a 1- 1/4" track and fit the standard C350 genoa track without modification. I assume the C350MkII has the same track as the MkI. I bought my set at Garhauer's booth at...

Re: Leaking shower door
I had a similar problem and found that it was not due to water leaking out beneath the shower door, but from water working its way under the wall between the head and the shower door. There was a small gap allowing water to go underneath the wall between the seat and the door, which would wick downw...

Re: How thick is the main bulkhead?
I have mounted a Weems & Plath clock and barometer on the main bulkhead, and it is not an easy chore. The bulkhead is thick and has fiberglass or some similar very hard material under the wood veneer. I used the small brass screws that came with the clock and barometer, but first drilled pilot h...

garhauer ez glide genoa cars
I just purchased a set of garhauer ez glide genoa cars with the optional cam cleat, and was wondering if anyone else has installed these on a 350. Specifically, I would like to know what size line and length you used. In addition, I saw a post for a larger Catalina which included a bungee between th...

I have the dinette conversion, which works, but is not ideal. You should have should have two short table legs (the ones used with the cocktail table) which are also used for the berth. The short legs along with the cleats on the port side are sufficient to provide the support needed. The fun begins...

I think to be safe you need to have some sort of zinc on the prop or shaft. The stainless shaft is attached to other metals at the transmission and engine, and stainless can errode away. I have the standard 3-blade with a cone zinc, which fell off one time, and since have been having my diver cut a ...
