Re: Newport Mod 1600 Base attachment.

My original Willcox Crittenden electric head is starting to act up this spring. The motor is slow to start and I fear the motor is dying after 8 years of service. Since parts are difficult to find and expensive, a replacement unit should be the easiest route to take. It appears that the Raritan Seae...

Re: Running new Alternator output wire

I did the same upgrade when I installed the 4 golf cart batteries a few years ago. I recall the process being slightly more difficult than I anticipated. I believe I fished the tape from the engine sump to the bilge and then back to the nav station. It will keep you occupied for a good half hour. Go...

Whisker Pole size

I am looking to improve my downwind speed. I cruise on the Chesapeake Bay with a crew of two, my wife and I. After reading as many posts as I thought apply, it appears a whisker pole for my 150 genoa will be the easiest way to proceed. What length and diameter pole should I look for? Would "on ...

Re insulated refrigerators

I would like to hear from anyone who has reinsulated the inside of his or her refrigerator. What type of run times are you now getting on the compressor? What temperatures do you now get in the freezer and the refigerator? Are you generally happy with the work and the upgrade? Thanks. Air Mobility H...

Starting cuircut fuse

I added a starting battery last year and did not notice a fuse in the primary starting cuircut. Did the 350 come from the factory with a fuse for the starting cuircut?(the high amp cuircut) If a fuse is required, and I think it is, what size should this fuse be?

Re: Replacing interior light bulbs

Bob (and anyone else that uses this bulb and fixture) I repaired several of these overhead fixtures when I first got this boat. Most of the small switches had gone bad. Be very careful which replacement bulb you use. I picked up a package of the same bulb type, but with a 20 watt rating from Home De...

Sternrail diameter

I'm not at my boat, but would like to order attachment hardware for the Magma grill I just got. I don't know the stern rail diameter. Anyone at thier boat that could pass me that information? Thanks in advance.

Re: Engine Alarm / Buzzer

I had a similar problem last year. It turned out to be a broken wire at the oil pressure switch. Check the condition of the wiring and connection pins at the switch. The switch is located low on the port side of the M-35 engine. The fix was a fairly easy repair.(for a boat) George Fisher Air Mobilit...

Re: Autohelm Disconnect

Barbara My auto helm is working fine. After several weeks of difficult disconnects, iI went into the aft locker and checked over the auto helm unit. I checked all the wireing and disconnected and reconnected the small arm on the unit that senses the position of the rudder. After that, it started wor...

All Does anyone use the Honda 2000i generator to charge batteries while at anchor? I am considreing getting one , but am not certain it will handle the 30 amp shore power charger. The generator is rated at 20 amps and the charger rated at 30 amps. My other option is to upgade my 50 amp alternator to...

Re: Heat exchanger

Hans Had the same problem last spring. The fix was easy. The marina store got the end cap for me overnight. I removed the opposite end cap and flushed out the heat exchanger while still attached to the engine. Be sure to replace the end cap seals at the same time. No sense doing the job twice. My en...

Re: Stanchion replacement #1

Very informative post. I had the same stantion repaired and replaced a few weeks ago. The boat yard crew got a dock line wrapped around the stantion during the splashing process. They did the repair since they broke the part. I was not around, but I hope they did as good a job as you. George s/v Air...

Re: Air conditioning with a Honda generator!!!

Rich

We have a Rotary Aire 16,000 BTU. Does the manufacturer of the A/C unit make a differance in the modification? We're going down to the boat tomorrow to put the sails on and do a little spring mx. I'll look around to see if I can locate the required parts.

Thanks

I have been trying to decide if or how I should persue this problem. (running my air conditioning while at anchor) I presently do not use an aux generator, but have been looking at the Honda. Please keep the forum up to date on your modification and how the a/c systm responds to it. I would be conce...

Autohelm Disconnect

I have the Raymarine autohelm 5000+ installed on Air Mobility, hull number 158. I've had no trouble with the system for the last two years. Toward the end of the sailing season here on the Chesapeake, I noticed that the autohelm does not disconnect immediately when I press the standby button on the ...

Re: Pump not running for galley faucet

If you get water from other locations and not at the galley, I would first check the strainer on the galley faucet. If no flow is created when you open the valve(hot or cold) the pump will not turn on. The strainer at the end of the faucet can clog and prevents any flow.

Re: Heat Exchanger Securing Straps on the M35B engine.

Ran down to Georgetown Md to check on things this morning. We had been out the week before Labor Day and was interested to see if I had problems with the heat exchanger brackets. We plan on leaving Sunday for another week on the bay and I did not want to be surprised by an engine problem. I am happy...
