Re: roller furling main shape
I too have the "leach curl" issue as well as leach vibration whenever I am close hauled at more that about 12knots of apparent wind. My leach line is pretty tight but does not appear that tightening it really helped much. I wonder has anyone added small vertical battens? I wonder if it is ...

Re: 35B Engine manifold and exhaust riser replacement
There is an article in the April/May 22 BoatUS magazine called "7 way to murder your diesel" in which "clue" no 7 is the recommendation to change Exhause Manifold and mixing elbow at the recommended intervals. I perused the Universa M35 manual and could find no mention that these...

Thread sealant/lube
I am in the process of replacing the rinky dink jam cleat for the main sheet. Going to upgrade to a Spinlock identical to the other Rope clutches. When I pulled the machine screws I noticed that there is some form of grease or sealant on the threads and it certainly did a good job. Trevi is a 2008 a...

I did not do this upgrade for no really good reason!
Please post your experience if you decide to go ahead with it.

Re: Head Plumbing problem
Problem solved. I replaced the Y valve a few weeks ago and of course I got the orientation wrong! The LOWER white tube is the salt water INTAKE and the UPPER white tube is the inlet to the head pump. I wasted a lot of time before that dawned on me... There was no check valve installed, so that has n...

Re: Head Plumbing problem
Thanks for the response Ken. No, I am not the original owner. Bought Trevi last year. So I take it that my arrangement is not factory installed? I am not able to visualize the entire length of the run as it goes behind bulkheads etc, but I don't see a check valve. I think I will just pull the hose o...

Head Plumbing problem
On my 350 which is a 2008 model hull 460, the head is plumbed via a Y valve so what one can select the flushing fluid. Either via Raw water in my case salt water or in the other position, fresh water from the forward tank. I have attached 2 photos. The second picture is the Y valve which is located ...

Re: catalina 350 shower
The hose is now available on Amazon for around $25. I just ordered it.
It is Scandvik Replacement 6' Hose 10290,White. I am fine with it not being chrome and I believe it might be more durable.

Re: AIS addition
I mounted the AIS unit behind the upper panel of the electrical panel very close to the VHF. Everything seems to be functioning fine, The only downside is that it sure was awkward getting it in and mounted and one can barely see it thru the the lower (breaker) section when it is folded down.

Mystery duct
Folks, I have a duct dangling in my cockpit lazarrette. The duct goes into the corner of the forward bulkhead and appears to connect to nothing. It does not appear on the other side of the bulkhead! It appears to be the same type of duct that is used for the heater duct which is actually routed thro...

Re: Kiwi Prop anyone?
Mike, My boat has the same engine/transmission with the 1.88 to 1 and I was recommended to get the 15x10 Gori prop, which by the way can go to 15x12 in overdrive. In regular mode I can get to about 2800 rpm at WOT and the boat will get about 6.8knots at 2500 or so rpm in flat water. So I agree with ...

Cooling Circuit Diagram?
Does anyone have access to a diagram of the engine cooling system including the raw water and engine coolant side. I can follow most of pipes and can tell what they do but there are some that go off the circuit and it would be very useful to know where they are going and what they do. Thanks Trevor ...

Re: Kiwi Prop anyone?
So after reading these various posts and particularly the excellent post from Gary and Janet "Best of Times" I decided to take the plunge (deep into my wallet that is) and go with the GORI prop. I was given the same recommended specs ie 15x10 prop. I also sprang for Propspeed after reviewi...

Re: Installing new wire up to the Masthead
I recently replaced my VHF coax with a thicker and less flexible coax I think it is RG 213 (why is another story all together). Yes there are 3 conduits in the mast. Port and Starboard for the mast head and one forward that goes to the deck light, steaming light and on my boat Radar. I fed the new c...

Re: Raymarine C80 NMEA port
Most commonly used for AIS so that it displays on your MFD. Assuming that your AIS is not a Raymarine model which would communicate via SeaTalk or SeaTalk NG. Could also be used by autopilot, again assuming that you had a non Raymarine autopilot.

Re: AIS addition
I installed an AIS transponder (send and receive) on Trevi #460. I have an ICOM VHF. I chose the Digital Yacht Nucleus AIT3000 Class B AIS Transponder which has an built in Antenna splitter so you don't need a second VHF antenna. Purchased from Defender for about $800. It comes complete with its own...

Upgrade main shore power breaker to ELCI
I am interested in an upgrade of my shore power breaker to the ELCI (electric leakage current interrupter) capability which I believe is now code per ABYC for new boats. Essentially it is a GFCI device for the whole boat and I read about it in the excellent article by Leslie Moyer in the latest (Spr...

Re: Racor filter change
It is the Universal M35B engine with a Racor off engine filter and an electric fuel pump, that appears to be placed between the Racor and the engine. On my previous boat with a Yanmar engine and mechanical fuel pump, I always filled up the Racor. I was wondering with this set up if there is a simple...
