Re: Replacement Gasket for Raw Water Strainer

Chuck, I have a 2005 C350, #326. My strainer is a Perko 3/4. Cat. No. 0493005PLB. The rubber gasket kit no I have listed is 0493DP599R. 99R is for the rubber gasket version as opposed to the older cork gasket kit no 99M. There is one cover gasket and two cylinder gaskets in the kit. I changed mine s...

Re: 2006 Posting re cross referenced part numbers

Have to post my own reply. The Gates belt is a 7410 that I purchased not a 7140.
Sorry about that.

2006 Posting re cross referenced part numbers

Ken, As u know I have moved my boat from St Simons, GA to Annapolis. As we were running outside had water pump problems and had to duck in at Charleston to address that issue. Since the alternator belt did not look that good decided to change it out also. I had a spare, Gates 7140, that I had purcha...

Sat Phone Rentals

Anyone have experience renting a sat phone for short term period.
As usual Google review has good/bad reviews for same suppliers.
Weather permitting planning to bring my boat on the outside, from St Simons, GA to Annapolis in a couple of weeks.

Raymarine Troubleshooting Charge

There was a recent post that alluded to an unbelievable, at least to me, $1500 dollar troubleshooting charge by Raymarine. I recently had the screen on my C-80 fail and a $1500 dollar charge was never mentioned when discussing the repair with the Raymarine Service Dept. In fact the repair turned out...

Re: Stop Leak

Gary, If u are leaking coolant it should not be from the weep hole for the raw water pump that u are calling the fresh water pump, i assume, absent some other system failure. All that should leak out of the weep hole is fresh or salt water, under normal circumstances. The metal impeller pump for the...

Fort Pierce/Stuart, FL C-350 Owner[s]

Looking for a 350 owner in the Fort Pierce/Stuart, FL areas that would be willing to have a sailmaker take a look at your boat. Have been discussing a Doyle UPS with him.

Re: Engine - transmission

Interesting posts as i have a question re tr fluid levels since boat was purchsed and the fluid level checked high the first time with no additions. The universal op manual calls for .59 quarts. I removed and added that amount and it still checked high. When i checked with ZF Marine tech people they...

Re: Raw Water Pump Leak

Ken... have literally gone through 3 Sherwood pumps, 2 new and one rebuilt before i the last one which has worked fine for the last year. I had one replaced under warranty by Sherwood. One leaked oil and the others leaked water, prematurely. Must have been made in China. My boat is a 2005 with 300 p...

Engine Coolant Replacement

I found a question but no response to a query re changing the antifreeze on our 350's in the archives. I was replacing the the overflow vinyl tubing today and the coolant in the reservoir did not look good. Any tips beyond what is in the manual? By the way, while i was checking the hose clamp for ti...

Re: Cleaning Rub Rail

Ken,

Mr Clean Extra Power Magic Erasers will remove the mold with a lot of elbow grease and a number of pads.

And while it's not magic, it did completely remove the mold.

Like u, i had tried a number of concoctions w/o success.

Sam's carries a canister of 10 at a reasonable price

Re: Oil Pan

Richard, I would make sure your raw water pump/gasket is not the culprit, first. I did not suspect my RWP until a mech indicated that could have been the problem. I had to replace 3 of the Sherwood pumps before i got one to hold up and i only have 300 hrs on my engine. Others have had issues with th...

Re: shurflo strainer, replacement screen

Groco sells a the same strainer with a plastic basket that they recommend for continuous ac use. They also sell slightly larger and much more expensive strainer that does not become cloudy and craze like the smaller ones do, according to their tech rep. Not sure if size and attachment point would wo...

Patti... both my air cond and head have strainers have that look. Since i convinced myself that it is more cosmetic than structural... i am still using them. But in the back of my mind it still bothers me although i had not thought about it again until your post. By the way, what size is your shurfl...

Re: RAYMARINE RADAR INSTALLATION IN THE ANNAPOLIS, MD AREA

Rc-Electronic Marine-Web: http://www.electronicmarine.com- performed some tech work on my C-80 system under warranty. My radar/chartplotter was installed by Catalina. I found Phil, the owner, to be honest and very knowledgeable. He is a Raymarine rep for Annapolis area or least was when i last used ...

Oil Pan

Has anyone dropped their oil pan. When i run my engine 8-10 hours straight i had some slight oil leakage around the seal between the oil pan and engine block. None at lower levels of operation prior, although i have not run it much since taking it down the ICW. The M-35's do not have gaskets, but us...

Racor Vacuum Gauge

Has anyone has installed a vacuum gauge in place of the T-handle on the Racor 500? Alternatively, i am a distance from my boat and wanted to know the clearance from the top of the filter to the engine cover prior to ordering the gauge Defender.

Thanks.

I finally had a chance to check my boat in response to Nelson Gainey's post regarding a leak around where the head stay tang and anchor roller intersect and found the same void as Nelson. The problem is that it is an area that is hard to reach with caulking... either from below or above. In any even...

Electric Fuel Lift Pump Filter

It appears to be found on page 13, Scheduled Maintenance section of the January 2000 Universal Operators Manual. It calls for an initially cleaning at 50 hours, which i haven't done, then every 250 hours. It does not mention replacing the filter. I have the same spare pits kit with the pump filter a...
