Re: SOSpenders-Inflatable PFD's

I’m using the mustang h.i.t. And have been pleased with them. Fortunately they are untested by me😁

Re: Filler Cap O-rings

I went through this last year and never did find the “right” number. I bought two different rings that I thought were correct but they weren’t. I bought an oring kit at harbor freight and it had a perfect fit. Replaced all three and they’ve been holding up well. I know the quality is not the greates...

Re: Fridge Compressor -Replacement

Thanks for this information. I’ve decided this year I’ll work on the fridge system so this is very useful. I did look at the web site and they are currently out of stock, but I’ll keep checking back. Did you consider a digital replacement?

Are you trying to find a replacement? If so, won’t this work- https://www.catalinadirect.com/shop-by- ... e-control/ ? There’s one for hot also. CD may be able to tell you the manufacturer as well.

Re: Wanted: Salon Dinette to Double Berth Conversion Kit

Dennis, Did you already take a look at this https://www.catalinadirect.com/shop-by-boat/catalina-42/interior/table-pedestal-silver-anodized-for-silver-powdercoat-alum-base/?SearchResults=1 ? I didn’t see the diameter listed so it may not be a direct replacement. Also, I know https://marine-products....

Re: Head Plumbing problem

Hi Trevor, Have you opened the y valve to check for a blockage inside? Seems unlikely that a check valve would be hidden and inaccessible, so I’d start with the easier option. I agree however that the setup is prone to possible contamination without some sort of valve or solenoid. Of course the sole...

Hi Peter,
Welcome, hope your boat shopping works out and you are able to find a suitable 350. We’ve had ours for nearly 3 years and really enjoy it. Like you, I joined this group during the shopping stage and was able to get some valuable insights. Good luck!

Re: Dead Head (But not Grateful)

Jeff, I installed the marine elegance not long ago also. No, you don’t have to unfasten the tank— at least I didn’t. On mine the hose connection is on the side of the tank. I have read that some released the tank to make easier access to the waste connection, but I didn’t have any issues. I had to e...

Mike,
I went with a household detector with 10 year battery life. As far as I could find, there’s no difference from a “marine” model.

Hi Randal Can you give any additional information on this “Situation: The shower was filling with water due to a malfunctioning duckbill valve in the anti-siphon system”? I’m unclear on where the water was coming from, and how it was getting into the shower. As far as the situation with the bilge pu...

Re: Replacement faucet for head sink (not shower fitting)

John, After a long search for a replacement ceramic cartridge, I ended up replacing my head faucet a couple of years ago. I thought the prices for “boat” faucets were ridiculous, so I ended up using a single hole faucet purchased at Lowe’s. Fits and functions perfectly. Only draw back is that it doe...

Do you actually have two shore power connections? I have two connector housings on the stern, but only one housing has a plug in it. The other is empty— much to my surprise!

Re: Interior Table

Those are beautiful options for the table. I went a lot simpler however. I found a table on facebook marketplace that was removed from an RV. Perfect size, but I had to swap the uprights from the original boat table to make it work. Admiral found a nautical themed table cloth to cover the unpleasant...

Hi George,
Sending you a pm with contact info for a dockmate of mine. Well, former dockmate since we just put the boat in hurricane storage. Many years as an instructor, charter, and delivery captain. He’s in Punta Gorda so somewhat local.

Congratulations on the purchase. What hull number?

Re: AIS addition

Hi Kirk, Interesting. I understand the requirement to space antennas, but haven’t heard the devices have to be that far apart. Clearly there will be some rf energy, but I haven’t noticed any issues with having radio and ais less than 3 feet apart. I took a look at the vesper manual and there was no ...

Re: Raymarine Axiom+ MicroSD access

Thanks Kirk. After my first response, I recalled seeing the reader included on your wiring diagram. That’s what prompted me to do some more in-depth checks. I’ve also only done the navionics chart update once, but I hate having to open the navpod. I did do a LH update via WiFi a couple of weeks ago ...

Re: Raymarine Axiom+ MicroSD access

I recently installed an Axiom9 to replace the E80 Classic. It’s a huge pain to update the sd card. Given that there’s no usb connection, therefore no way to plug in an external card reader, I don’t know how else to update without opening the navpod. Seems it greatly increases the chance of damage or...

I mounted a Vesper XB8000 with external splitter inside the cabinet at the nav station. Convenient to the vhf coax as well as power. Also makes it easy to check the status led. Mounted the gps antenna on the dinghy davits.
