Re: Newbie Embarking from Tampa to Titusville
If Florida will be your cruising grounds, I would highly recommend investing in a Maptech Chartbook. All the large and small scale charts in a single spot. Also, the companion Florida cruising guide is very helpful.

Re: Leak From Hatch Hinge
Ken, The frame has a channel that the gasket locks into. A bead of Silicone should be squeezed into the channel all the way around the frame before installing the gasket. You will need to use a blunt tool such as a flat screwdriver to press the gasket into the channel until it locks. I believe you c...

Re: Leak From Hatch Hinge
Hi Ken, Alan here. Over a number of years we have replaced all the portlight gaskets because of leakage. I highly recommend removing the entire portlight for this. The hardest part is getting the silicone out of the channel that the seal locks into and removing all the old butyl seal material. I rem...

Re: Leak From Hatch Hinge
Hi Ken, We have a Lewmar 40 low profile hatch on our 350. Other leak points could be any of the following: - the rubber seal around the lense - the butyl seal between the hatch frame and the deck - the screws thru the lense that attach the friction arm to the hatch cover. By selectively pouring wate...

Re: Raymarine ST60 and I50 Instruments
Hi Ken
I thought the I50 was NEMA2000 while the ST displays are NEMA0183. How did you get them to talk to each other?

Ken,
Did you find a replacement ST6001 auto pilot display. I have one for sale. Note that the backlight doesn't work so does not light up at night.

Re: Alternator charge output only 11 5 volts
Good info/advise. Thanks. Fortunately I have solar panels to help charge.
Do you think the alternator is bad then?
Since the starter motor works ok, the ground for the alternator should be ok too? Where does the ground wire attach?
I am at anchor off the SW end of Key Biscayne in Florida.

Re: Alternator charge output only 11 5 volts
Thanks Brett. Using my DMM I measured 12.5V at the engine battery before starting the engine and about 12.2V with the engine running at slow idle. No change at higher rpms either. Alternator appears to be consuming voltage. Bad alternator/diode? I am currently at anchor. Can I run the engine in this...

Alternator charge output only 11 5 volts
While motoring the engine voltage output is only about 11.5 volts. I suspect alternator failing. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

VP-64 variprofile 3 blade prop
I recently installed a VP-64 16x10 three blade prop. The prop came pre-set pitch at 10deg but this seems to be under powered in forward as I struggle to make 6kt thru the water at max rpm. The engine M35B does not appear to be laboring at all. Any advise on increasing the pitch in forward? Regards A...

Re: Air Filter Element
It is called a foam wrap. Coincidentally I had the same question. I found a generic wrap that replaces Kohler engine part #12-083-12 for under $3. It was the correct diameter for the M35B air cleaner but a little long. You can trim shorter if you like. I just installed as is. Regards Alan B Divine G...

Headliner discoloration & mildew
Since the purchase of our boat (6yrs) we have had a yellowish substance on our headliner that I tried to get of, unsuccessfully, with various cleaners and pads. This year our boat had some serious mildew stains that Magic Eraser would not even remove. I was told about Mold Control (Concrobium) and g...

Re: Prop replacement
Thanks to all for your responses. After further consideration I will likely get my VP-64 repaired/serviced. Since I am only about 1 month away from splashing my boat for the winter sailing season in FL, turn around time may be an issue so I may have to make due with the fixed prop until the boat is ...

Prop replacement
Hi All, My C350 had a Variprofile VP-64 3-blade prop which was installed by a previous owner. This prop is worn and needs to be removed and rebuilt if possible. I am thinking about replacing the variprofile prop with the original fixed 3-blade. I have been reading some posts regarding cavitation iss...

Re: Excessive Weather Helm?
I have experienced significant weather helm on our 2005 C350 (we have a 150 genoa). As you probably know, weather helm results when the force on the mainsail is greater than on the foresail, resulting in greater force aft of the keel, thereby causing the boat to turn into the wind (just physics). In...

Re: Engine overheating
I had a similar problem once. I thought the raw water impeller needed to be replaced. When I went to shut the raw water intake valve I discovered the raw water strainer was leaking water. However when the engine was running air was being sucked into the raw water system resulting in insufficient coo...
