Re: Diesel Exhaust Hose R&R

Did mine about a week ago. 2006 model. Took about 2.5 hours actual work, plus time to purchase new hose. Real key is that you need a person who can fit in the starboard aft lazzarett . Remove the shelf which sits on top of the hot water heater. That Person climbs down in the lazzarett toward the rea...

Life raft storage

Hello all, I am adding a life raft for a cruise to Bermuda this coming spring. Trying to figure best placement for it and valise vs hard case. Have considered mounting it, somehow, under my Garhauer davits as the dinghy will be on the foredeck. Any ideas? Dave DeSalvo Ventosa #383 Baltimore Harbor

Lee cloths and off shore insurance

Hello All, Planning a cruise from Baltimore (home port) to Bermuda for May 2023. Baltimore to Norfolk, wait for weather window and then 5-6 days at sea to Bermuda. Trying to acquire lee cloths and "how to affix" lee cloth knowledge for port and starboard seating. I'm not much into sewing s...

Re: Flush water swirls but wont leave the bowl

Thank you, Ken, for the feedback. I have had the panel off. 4 screws. My panel has a soft, plastic foam kind of lining instead of actual caulk. I think it is stapled on to the panel itself. I may have to pry that off in order to get it past the wood handhold.

Re: Flush water swirls but wont leave the bowl

Thanks very much for your quick reply. Replacing the discharge hose is what I will have to do. I can get the panel in front of the top of the holding tank off but not out as the wood trim is in the way. Did you take the wood trim off or did you find some other procedure?

Flush water swirls but wont leave the bowl

Lots of fun. Have replaced joker valve. Have run a snake up the discharge tube as far as I could get it. Have pulled motor out, cleaned macerator, cleaned rotating discharge fan, put new discharge kit components in, reassembled and still same issue. Motor runs great. Actually quieter than before. An...

Re: Second Refrigeration System

Hello All, I am planning to install a second unit in the refrigerator compartment. I am doing this as the insulation adjustments I have made have only only partially resolved my issues and as we have been living aboard for 2 years, the refrigerator function is a critical issue for the Admiral. My re...

fish zinc

I want to add an overboard fish zinc to my system. I would like to attach it with the alligator clip provided to a backstay but don't think the backstay is grounded. I have made several attempts to find a nut to screw onto to the bolt holding the backstay in place but cant find the size (SAE or Metr...

Re: Tank Monitor for Waste Holding Tank

Dennis Ferriello definitely helped me. Had the same dead monitor issue. Dennis suggested I track down a fuse in the wiring bundle for the tank monitor. the fuse was blown and once I replaced it the my monitor came back to life and 2 years later have had no issue. The fuse was somewhat difficult to f...

Has anyone tried Trident Reinforced PVC Hose? For potable water. Saw it on Jamestown Distributor website when researching the Jabsco pump that was mentioned in an Accumulator Tank thread.

Preventer attachment point underside of the boom

Hello everyone,

I'd like to add an attachment point under the boom but can't figure out how to do so. Any ideas? Can a half-ring be added to the track on the underside of the boom?

Cockpit Drains

The Admiral got a flexible tool stuck in one of the cockpit drains while attempting to clean it out and ...naturally the tool broke leaving a piece in the drain.

Has anyone been able to take the drains apart?

Re: Transmission cooler

Thanks for the feedback. I have been changing the trans fluid at each oil change which has been every 100 hours or each season, whichever comes first. My motor has about 420 hours on it and the trans has been acting OK. I have been drawing the fluid out through the dipstick hole. I seem to be able t...

Transmission cooler

Am about to replace my damper plate as a preventative measure. Following the excellent directions provided by other owners, I know that I will be pulling the transmission and will have an opportunity to replace the fluid from the bottom of the tranny for the first time. My M35B operators manual talk...

Carbon Monoxide detectors

Am contemplating installing hard wired detectors. Has anyone done this? If so, where did you locate them, how did you wire them into the system, etc. etc. etc.

Thanks

Engine coolant replacment

I am about to change out the coolant on hull # 383 myself for the first time. Does anyone have a preferred method for collecting the draining coolant? Given the clearances under the motor, I could use some advice on how to cleanly collect the draining fluid. Thanks in advance. Dave DeSalvo Hull 383 ...

Re: Another starter battery question

Wow, Thanks, Ken. Seems like a simple, elegant and inexpensive solution. Pretty hard to come by all 3 at he same time. I did put my Start Battery under the port side settee as you suggested so this should work. I guess that I can leave my Echo-charger in place as it will draw a small charge off of t...

Another starter battery question

I know that this has been discussed in some detail but I cant seem to figure out what is the best way to wire / connect a separate starting and house battery configuration. Unfortunately, my understanding of this kind of thing is almost at the "don't stick your finger" in an outlet level. ...
