Re: Not running due to fuel
Same experience for me in my 2003, Hull#3. Agree, be first suspicious of the fuel pump. It's an easy fix, even for a non-mechanic. dan

Leaking Fuel Tank
The morning of a planned week-long September sail on Ease Alee we smelled a strong diesel smell in the cabin. It didn't take long to discover a thick layer of diesel fuel floating on top of our bilge water and then a small continuous leak of fuel from the foreward starboard corner of our fuel tank. ...

Re: Spare Hoses for Universal M35-B
Thanks for the replies! I do see one of the two hoses (they have the 1 1/8" hose but not the 7/8") in the Goodyear catalog, but a trek to local Goodyear store was disappointing as they referred me to a nearby auto parts store and said that they had nothing to do with goodyear online. I've ...

Spare Hoses for Universal M35-B
I'm trying to obtain spare hoses for Ease Alee before I remove the heat exchanger. I need to find the wire-inserted pieces (part numbers 015774 and 019059) and Westerbeke distributor suggested that I buy these straight hoses from any "hose shop" as they will sell only in 4' length (I need ...

Re: Winterizing
For what it is worth, I do not put antifreeze in my potable water system (as it takes forever to get rid of it during our sailing season on the northern Chesapeake Bay). I do open the relief valve and drain at the hot water tank, open both the hot and cold drains at the manifold in the bilge area op...

Re: Raymarine Troubleshooting Charge
I wrote the comment about the $1500 charge and, yes, it sounds unbelievable. It was not firsthand info, but I was directly quoting personnel from an authorized Raymarine dealer. I have not personnally experienced Raymarine service. However, I have received curt and unhelpful telephone troubleshootin...

Re: Looking to Purchase 350 Part 2
Allow me to weigh in here also. We purchased Ease Alee, 350 hull# 3, in 2006. We primarily cruise the Chesapeake Bay and she has served us well and we plan to keep her for awhile longer. She is our "last" boat. We now have 1400 engine hours, have changed from the original 2-blade prop (yep...

Re: Looking to Purchase 350
Just back from a week-long sail on the Chesapeake Bay on Ease Alee, 2003 Catalina 350, hull #3, 1400 engine hours. We love her.....great cruising boat, comfortable for the two of us and occasional guests or grandkids. We've owned and sailed her since 2006. Fridge was an early problem. Runs better wi...

Re: Raymarine SL70RC Plus Radar/Chartplotter display
I just returned from a week long sail of the Chesapeake Bay and a similar thing happened to me on Ease Alee (2003, Hull #3, 1400 engine hours) during this trip. My Raymarine RL70C Plus "Pathfinder" chartplotter began going off, then on to the panther-eyes logo screen, then off, on, off, et...

M35B water temperature sender threads
Can anyone tell me whether the threads on the temperature sending unit for a Westerbeke M35B are metric or NPT? I'm sitting 6 hours away from my boat and would like to order a replacement sender before I head back. I'm hoping to use a generic sender (with the same temp range) rather than the more ex...

Re: fuel filters
My guess is that it is a filter for the fuel lift pump...........which is not consistent on all 350's. My 2003, hull #3 does NOT have the filter in my fuel lift pump (but the literature describes it. I found out when I was having fuel lift problems and tried to clean the non-existing filter, and the...

Try Sierra Marine Weatherproof Boot Nut MP39190 . Costs less than $10 including shipping and replaces in moments by screwing on. Dan

Re: Engine Over heating

(of course set for 160F) or must I order from Universal/Westerbeke?

I replace the fuel lift pump only. The solenoid was fine. As soon as I installed the new pump I was able to hear the clicking noise for the first time when I turned the key to first position. dan

Re: Engine dies - after hard sailing, not during
I've had a very similar problem. Recently while motoring for awhile in choppy weather the engine acted fuel-starved (rpms dropped way low, almost stalled out). When I returned to home marina I decided to change primary and secondary fuel filters (which were both very clean) and then could not prime ...

Autopilot Troubleshooting
During my first voyage of the year after winter haulout, I find that my autopilot is not working. I have C350 Hull#3, Raymarine ST5000 instruments. The electronics seem to be working fine and all Seatalk instruments communicate with each other but when I switch from Standby to Autopilot the Instrume...

Fresh Water Check Valve
Is there a check valve between the fresh water tanks and the Shur-Flo pump under the galley sink, and if so, where is it? My water pump has been "burping" and I can find no water leak or air in the lines and I wonder if a check valve would help maintain pressure. Also, the Shur-Flo pump on...

Heat Exchanger Zinc Broken
During my end of season maintainence I attempted to change the enging zinc from the heat exchanger. When I removed the external nut I found NO zinc shaft remaining and felt ashamed that I had left it go too long. Then when I tried to insert the new zinc I realized that the old zinc was broken off of...

Thanks Ken. It does look like what I need but I don't understand why it is so cheap ($25) compared to catalog price. I've ordered one and will give it a try. Dan
