Re: Added Solar Panels

Our 2007 C350 is new to us this year. Came with 2 100 watt panels that appear to only generate about 6 amps max together in parallel. This is not enough to keep the fridge running and the batteries charged. The fridge draws about 6 amps with a 35-50 percent duty cycle, depending on the temp. So, we ...

Fuel Filter P/N 298854 size change?

Working on my new to me 2007 Catalina 350 in preparation for launch next week. Unfortunately, I have been unable to get a maintenance history on the boat, and it appears that the filters, impeller and zinc have never been changed. So, I am replacing all of the fluids, filters, impeller and zinc. I p...

Re: Intermittent Overheat at start up...

Another suspect is an airlock in your cooling system. A friend had an airlock in his fresh water loop that caused overheating. We had to be bleed it out. This may not explain why the raw water loop is not flowing freely, but you might want to check by breaking each connection in the flow circuit to ...

Re: New Sails

Bill, I purchased a 2007 350 last fall that came with an asymmetric, 135 and 155 headsails. Given where we sail, I doubt I will ever use the 155. The previous owners said they only used it several times; it is virtually new. So, I may consider selling it, if I can figure out a fair price. The used s...

Fluid Replacement Recommendations

New owner of Hull #447; first diesel. We are on Lake Champlain in VT, but will likely move down the coast in a few years. Not knowing the maintenance schedule for the boat, I plan to replace all the fluids, filters, impeller and belt in the spring. What is recommended for fluids? Engine oil: I see R...

Bow Railing Attachment

My name is Ken, and new to this group. My wife, Donna and I just purchased Hull# 447, a 2007 Catalina 350, on Lake Champlain VT. The surveyor observed that the bolts on the bow railing have no backing plates and nuts, and could not detect any embedded plate in the decking. Does anyone know whether t...
