Re: Engine Alarm / Buzzer

I also had issues with my oil pressure buzzer and finally redesigned the circuit. If interested I have a project plan I can send to you. It has worked well for several seasons. The basic concept is replacing the oil pressure sensor with a dual acting sensor and some rewiring of the existing wiring h...

Re: Oberdorfer N202M-837 will pump cooling water but not A/F

Jim - It may not be applicable as I have a Perko filter with a flush kit - it requires the handle on the filter top to be moved to be parallel to the inlet/outlet axis to allow flow in the flush mode.

Re: Marine Elegance Hose routing

Hi George- In the Summer 2021 edition of Mainsheet , the article I wrote “Head for a Quieter Night Sleep” I mistakingly put the wrong model number for the Raritan Marine Elegance Toilet. The correct model number is 220HF01200. I think there are two options for routing the discharge hose from the toi...

Re: Bilge Pump System

Hi - We have a Rule bilge pump. The check valve is in the bilge on the pump discharge piping. The check valve is visible in the 4th picture on a Wed. July11,2012 post in this thread. Hope this helps.

Re: Bilge Pump System

I had a problem with the electrical bilge pump cavitation. With rising water level in the bilge, the level switch would activate & the pump would spin but not pump - it was air bound. I solved the issue by drilling a small hole in the check valve body just below the flapper in the check valve bo...

Wow - this looks great. Can you post the table dimensions? How thick is the table? Also, the dimensions for the settee on the forward end. Did you make the settee? Thank you. John

Re: Water Heater Access

Hi Ken -Our Seaward hot water heater (HWH) never really produced hot water from the engine yet it was great when heated by the AC electrical power. I tried bleeding the system but the HWH performance never changed. The Universal Diesel Operators Manual on page 33 states “If any portion of the heatin...

Correction to Mainsheet article - Replacing Head

In the Summer 2021 Mainsheet edition, the article I wrote “Head for a Quieter Night Sleep” I mistakingly put the wrong model number for the Raritan Marine Elegance Toilet. The correct model number is 220HF01200. Sorry for the error! John

Re: High Temp/Low Oil Pressure Alarm

Hi Ed - I have made a modification to our alarm buzzer system because it was so unreliable. I have a write up of what I did which includes some marked up drawings of the alarm panel. I think you could determine the wiring colors from the drawings. It is a too large(I think) for the forum but there m...

HI Ken- per the Seward Owner’s manual the coolant is 5/8” ID Hose. I could not find the water hose size - manual mentions 1/2” NPT fittings. John

Re: Water Heater Access

I usually access the hot water (HWH) thru the stern port hatch - it is a bit tight. Another alternative is via port hatch in the cockpit ( requires removal of four screws and removing the storage shelf). Once below, I access the HWH by sitting on port side and reaching over.

Re: Hot Water Temperature

I agree with Wolfe10. I had the same problem with the water heater not being effective when heated by the engine. I removed the engine expansion tank and added a new coolant fill point that is about 2 ‘ above the water heater. It has worked great. It was fairly involved as I replaced the water heate...

Re: Leaky Hot Water Tank

HI Kirk - I replaced the original hot water heater(HWH) with an Isotemp 8 gallon plastic covered HWH that has the Thermostat mixer valve from Defender. I missed the annual sale but think there was a very good discount. The tank fits nicely into the location and has worked well. It has been in the bo...

Re: Dinette Tables

John - Thank you for the response. We do also have the smaller table. After seeing how huge the cabin is after removing the table & floor stands, I am looking for a table that is either: removable and when stored does not block stern portlight in the aft cabin - or - folds up against the bulkhea...

Re: Dinette Tables

Hi-We are also looking for solutions - we have permanently stored the large dinette table in the aft cabin and love the additional space in the main cabin. One option is a removable table somewhat smaller than the large dinette table. The options are to hook it to the bulkhead with a third fold down...

Re: Engine Coolant Expansion Tank

Hi Russ - I left the old radiator cap (14 PSI rating) on the engine. I installed a 7 PSI radiator cap on the remote coolant expansion tank. I removed the connection to the overfill tank and left the connection hose open to the bilge. It has never discharged any coolant. John

Re: Dead Head (But not Grateful)

HI Teri- I put the control panel under the head sink where the push button was located for the previous head - it required a small cutout. The wiring connections were very easy - but- fishing the wires to the connection locations required some thought. The head does not wobble as it is supported by ...

Re: Engine Alarm / Buzzer

Excellent points. It is not clear to me how long the engine will run without the fuel lift pump operating. I have been reading the posts in an attempt to learn more. I cannot test the engine’s ability to run without the fuel oil lift pump until the spring time. Grounding the “P” contact on the alarm...

Re: Engine Alarm / Buzzer

Re: Dead Head (But not Grateful)
