Re: New Owner, Lots Of Questions
Re: moving boat to Texas. I live near Tampa. I’ve done professional deliveries for several new owners. I can give you references I’ve owned my 350 for 19 years so I know it well. I could possible do it in May. You can email me at cullensailor@gmail.com. Also see my website. Www.thebookofsail.com. Bi...

Re: Hatch pull ring
I have found that the ones outside the cabin must be "Perko 1232DP2CHR Round Flush Ring Pull - 2" - Chrome Plated Zinc". I found these on Ebay for $9-$16. Because of the shape of the fiberglass indentation others will not work. You can move the original inside ones outside and they wi...

Re: Cutlass bearing installation doubt - need advice
The Cutlass bearing is CORRECT!! Do not change it. It looks just right to me. I was a part of the initial prop testing and cutlass problem with Catalina. Problems: Prop was too skinny and the cutlass was nylon. I did the prop testing for Catalina. If this were a nylon cutlass it would simply "c...

Re: Questions about shipping a 350 over the road
I think you'll it's very expensive to ship overland, like $3.50 a mile. Then there's the cost of unstepping and stepping the mast, and marina haul out and back in charges. Instead, reach out to this community and ask for volunteers to help you sail the boat to where it has to go. If you're doing the...

I pull the dipstick out, hole it sideways, and lay a single sheet of toilet paper on it. It shows where the liquid level stops.

Re: Mast up standing rigging replacement
I think this is what was meant. You take off one of each type on opposite sides of the boat, right? Take off the uppers on the port side, and lowers on the starboard side. Take off the back stay too. Secure with extra halyards and topping lift, though on the sides there really is no issue with the m...

Re: Position of chartplotter
I personally wouldn't want it out of reach or the helm. The reasons are plenty, but to quickly zoom or perhaps use AIS, the list goes on. that said, consider overhead up and out of the way, perhaps attached to your bimini frame. Another way to do this is to extend the bar that is the hand hold on th...

Re: Engine coolant drain locations
You will have to bleed the air out of the coolant system after filling. The obvious place to do this is the bleed vale on the thermostat housing. But, that is not the highest point. There is also a bleed value on the water heater, which believe it or not is higher up. If you do not do this you may n...

Re: Anchor roller and tray
Without seeing pic note sure this is relevant.
You have the two holes and bail in the flanges. Get a bolt & nuts long enough to go across both of these and then begin to tighten the nuts. This might draw it back to original position. I did this on a friends boat with success.

Re: med mooring using the anchor
I do not know where you are med mooring but places I do this (Med and Caribbean) now a days there are pickup or tags lines to bow mooring lines attached to the bottom. Make sure that this is not the case before you drop an anchor! This set up makes it easier and safer for everyone. What you are thin...

Re: Batteries 2022 - how to get EGC2 when Sam's is out
Hey all. Like to save a buck? What is happening right now is that many "early adaptors" are switching their RV or boat batteries to lithium. They are putting their old batteries on Craig's List or Facebook Market place. I've seen one year old Trojan batteries go for $25. I bought 4 - 6 vol...

Re: Cutlass bearing replacement
Instead of dropping the rudder you could move the engine up and out of the way and pull the shaft into the boat. That's what my mechanic did. I've also heard of others able to pass the rudder with the shaft?
Maybe someone can speak to that.

RUMGATTA in Tampa Bay Oct 2, 2021
Calling all C350's in the Tampa Bay area. If we can get 5 boats there we can have our own class or division. We will "race" in the fun division called the "Mother Lode". I will be in charge of rating the boats based on the small differences. It will be a staggered start pursuit r...

Re: Mystery duct
This is the AC duct that the factory installs for the air conditioning unit that usually sits where you see this duct. It runs up the starboard side all the way to the front cabin. It's a nice thing to have and thank you Catalina. It makes installing the AC system easier.

Re: Calcium Deposits in Holding Tank?
I've used Calgon and boiling water in the past. Yes, the bath product. Lots of people say this works. More recently, after seeing what Phosphoric acid does for a heat exchanger, I've put this in the hoses and holding tank for a while. A similar product is Barnacle Buster but it's expensive. I bought...

Re: Traveler and Genoa Furling Line
My furling line runs up over the deck as original then runs trough the traveler blocks to a line clutch or brake near the winch on the cabin top. I feel it is important that you consider the ability to run your furling line to a free winch. I also feel it is important that you have the ability to ta...

Re: Request for advice on FL Deep Water marinas-Gulf Coast
I've been reading some of the replies you have received. You should be aware that many marinas are full, and have waiting lists. That would include the Clearwater and St Pete Marinas. Plan way ahead, get on the waiting lists of several perhaps. Public is now located in the shopping center not far fr...
