I did this, it was easy. I too was fearing that the wires would be difficult to get to. Nope, they are easy to reach, and the change out went smooth and simple. Yes, you have to re-caulk the hole where the wires go through the shower pan. This is a 10 minute job.

Re: how to run wires to starboard side of cabin
Hey Salty. Rather then run wires all the way around the boat from the dedicated breaker, I just drilled a tiny hole for the wire to pass through the fiberglass where I mounted the fans , and then tapped into the lighting wiring. Neat, clean, and easy.

Florida Catalina 350 Roundup
See the info at the bottom of the board index under "C350 Fleet 2 Announcements". lastest post there ... Catalina 350 Roundup? (I still can't spell rendezvous) I'm thinking we could put together a few interesting discussion/presentations on modification, maintenance, etc., and maybe a sess...

Re: Leaking hatch over V birth
Going from memory here, not at the boat .... Check the stainless rivets that are in the hinge mechanism of the hatch. These turned out to be the culprit for a small, hard to find leak that developed on my front hatch. I think you can only see these if the hatch is open. I put in new rivets and caulk...

Wow. I would not have guessed that our wheel was 36". Great info, I really appreciate your reply. I will get the opportunity to try one out before buying. But it doesn't sound likely that we'll go with it if it doesn't give us more room

Folding wheel
Help. I'm on the road and have an opportunity to buy a folding steering wheel. It's a 40 inch that is on a Catalina 310. (To big for them). What is the size of our wheel? Would that work? Is the hub the same?

You are correct, just change out the shock cord. Did mine two years ago for a cost of about $3.

Re: Rudder removal
Yes, this is what we did to remove the nylon cutlass bearing when we were trying to trouble shoot the vibration noise. The shaft had to come all the way out so they could push the cutlass bearing out. If you hAve the nylon bearing it can be difficult to get it out. There are those little set screw t...

The other way to do it is to remove the engine from its mounts and remove the shaft from the inside.

Re: Shade Maker
I does not let the breeze come through. It is 85% blockage for both wind and sun. However, if you are anchored, with the bow to the wind, this can provide welcome shade from the sides and back of the boat. and you still get the breeze. Usually where we sail, the prevailing winds are from the east, s...

Re: 2004 350 Cockpit enclosure
Many of the Catalina 350's canvas was made by JSI, now called Island Marina, in St Petersburg Florida. They probably still have the patterns, and perhaps the best cost on the dodger and bimini. A call to Catalina (Waren Pandy) would also tell you who they were last using to make canvas for the C350....

Re: Galley sink loses water pressure on 2 of 3 tanks
Is there any difference in hot water verses cold water with the various tanks?
Do you close the valve to the forward tank when it is empty or you use one of the other tanks?

Re: Problems unfurling the Main
Amnesia is absolutely correct. I tried everything, I asked some "experts" for their thoughts, and the conclusion was that the "belly" in main sail was causing it to furl up poorly, and thus it won't unfurl easily. It has to furl flat against itself. Mine was a pain. Lube didn't d...

Re: Whisker pole
I use my whisker pole quite a bit. You are correct in your thinking that the forward shroud would rub against the pole as you sail more dead down wind and try to bring the pole back. I pole out the jib, a 145%, when sailing on a deep broad reach with the pole forward some. I will pole out with a win...

I had a mechanic do a lot of things at 1,000 hrs. Here is what it says in the manual on the C350IA website. Sorry I'm a little late on this, been out cruising .... yes, at 1,000 hours I believe that the owners maintenance guide suggests pulling the starter an lubricating it or something like this. See the owners manual. I did this when I did the 1,000 hour maintenance.

Re: boom furling vs stack pack
I have sailed thousands of ocean or blue water miles with each of these system. To me, the roller furling main is the one I’d choose. The reason is that is effortless to let out and bring in. All from the cockpit. Because it’s so effortless, and any of the crew can do it themselves, I find that we a...

I live on the west Coast of Florida and would be happy to take you out and use my roller furling main. I too had trouble at one time, my main was hard to get to unfurl. But the problem I had, and others might experience, was a bellied out, blow out main sail shape. I had all the experts look at it, ...
