Re: Bimini Expansion Panel
I vote with Russ on this one (sorry Ken). If you want it to fit correctly, you will need to find a canvas shop that will come to the boat and measure and fit.

Re: Lift Pump - Kubota Part Number?
Unfortunately, I sold our 350 (Quit in Time) a couple of years ago, so I don’t remember the psi of the lift pump, BUT, if you tell the NAPA dealer you have a 35hp Kabota, they will be able to identify the proper pump. Napa became my first call when I needed a part from electrical through hydraulics....

Re: Lift Pump - Kubota Part Number?
If this is the electric lift pump that feeds the mechanical pump, just go to NAPA Auto parts. They will have a choice of 2 or more, probably in stock and cheap. I had to replace one on the 4th of July several years ago.

Re: AC runs, no error message, but takes a rest for a while, and then works again
Check your strainer on the pump in your bilge. If it’s clogged, this will be a 5 minute fix.
High sea water temperature could cause your system to “stall”. Increase the temp on your thermostat and this could also be a fix. If it continues to run, this could cause your coil to ice up.

Thank you both. Capt. Tolley’s sounds like the way to go. I’ll let you know how it works out.

Stress Cracks on Anchor Locker Hatch
I have two stress cracks in the top of the anchor locker hatch. Has anybody had any experience with cosmetic repair for these hair line cracks? I don't think there is a problem in the core, yet. I read the earlier posts about cracks on the underside, but we don't have a repair that involved. Looking...

Re: Panda Fisher 4200 - Valve clearance adjustment
I was having a similar issue with my Panda, but it wasn’t valve clearance. The genset would run fine for a while. Then if it sat for some time it would be hard to crank. The problem was dirty contacts on the two relays. Two 1 inch square cubes that sit on a small shelf half way up the genset next to...

Re: High head pressure (HI/PS) error
If you are keeping the thermostat set below 70 and the seawater temp is above 85, you will have this problem. If this is the case, move your thermostat up to 75 and then after your 10 hour threshold, try moving it down to no lower than 73.

Re: Overboard Discharge
I talked to the manufacturer of the ball valve and they gave me some good information: The red handle will slide off with just a little resistance (no screw or bolt holding it on). The only thing that can happen is that the keyway on the handle or the key on the shaft could get stripped. If you can ...

Re: Black Dust By Motor Mount
Just changed the zinc in the HE yesterday and both cables are always up against the zinc nut. I check each time I change the zinc expecting to find grindings as in your photo, but nothing yet. Check again, I bet you will find the nut has been working the cable. Also, check just forward and aft of th...

Re: Generator Installation
Gerald- We explored the NextGen when we were trying to decide between repairing or replacing I believe you have to separate the two halves of the generator to get them through the hatch opening which apparently isn't a big deal. The positive about the NextGen is that all the parts are off-the-shelf....

Re: LED Cabin Lights
Ken- It's been since 2015 since we installed our LED's, but we are very happy with them. They have the same color as the halogens and produce very little heat. I'm attaching a pdf of our order so you can refer to the part numbers if you wish. I believe we had two of the disk types left over from the...

Assuming you are talking about the foam filter that goes around the flame arrestor, you can pick this up from Lambs Marine in Ortega (Jacksonville), FL.

Re: Galley faucet spray head
You should be able to unscrew the head from the hose (may require some liquid wrench, etc) and replace with a variety of options from Loew's. We replace with a low flow chrome finished plastic faucet that fit perfectly and added a modern touch to the sink.

Re: Not running due to fuel
The added fuel could have pushed past the lift pump and down to the mechanical fuel pump and possibly allowed the engine to start and idle after much cranking. The problem may arise when you pull away from the dock and put the power to it. You then may experience what seems like starving which means...

Re: Not running due to fuel
Dave- Had a similar experience. Check the lift pump first as this is the easiest diagnoses. Turn the ignition key to the "on" position then go below and listen for a "clicking" sound at the rear top side of the engine. If you hear a rapid clicking, it should slow to once or twice...

Re: Blue Boot Stripe
Catalina started molding the boot stripe into the 'glas late in the series I think. For most of us (I have a 2005), the only option is to repaint the boot stripe. We did it two and a half years ago and its a process to be sure. You need to use a pad sander to knock off any remaining gloss on the old...

Re: Barnacles
I've been experimenting with a 2 part epoxy paint that is used for coating the inside of fuel storage tanks (the big ones) for just over 2 years with very good results. The paint has fiberglas fibers in it which help hold it on the prop and also (apparently) irritate the barnacles. I'll be pulling t...

Re: Fluorescent Light Fixture in Head
The fluorescent fixture in the head is in the 12 volt circuit. I bought two 10" led light bars from my local Sailor's Exchange because I thought they would be useful. I got tired of dealing with the switch continuously when there were more important issues at hand, so I went to Ace Hardware, bo...
