Re: Changing Raymarine E80 to Garmin

Hi Kirk, Your post reminded me of something I needed to add for owners in the 5000+ series autopilot thinking of doing an upgrade and staying with Raymarine. 5000.jpg Since the "smart" part is in the control head not in an external computer the Axiom doesn't support the Navionics routing f...

Re: Changing Raymarine E80 to Garmin

axiom.jpg Just to follow up on this MFD topic, I finally bit the bullet last month and bought a 7" Axiom + and navionics card and installed it. About $1300 us in total for all the parts (Navpod/Axiom/Navionics/converter) and suprisingly the whole job took about an hour on the boat. I had origi...

Re: Micro Wave Oven

I just replaced the original Samsung microwave this summer and went for this Haden unit (about $140 us). The nice thing about it is that with the smaller size I could trim the side pieces, vertically on the right hand side, then cut the left hand side piece to fit horizontally and in doing so gained...

yeti.jpg This is a Yeti 45 its width is exactly the same as the gap where the fiberglass seat sits but at a more useable height. yeti_gap.jpg [/img] One bag of ice and the Yeti means that I don't have to run the fridge with all the inherent charging issues when doing a short 1-2day trip.

Re: Stove top cutting board

skogsta.jpg I found the solution on the facebook group page this is an IKEA stock item "Skogsta" $25. I bought one at the weekend and it fits to the mm width wise, looks like it was made for this stove. This is the second really good idea I have found on the C350 facebook group, the YETI ...

Re: Changing Raymarine E80 to Garmin

I am keen to see what answers you get on this. It really depends upon if you have the 5000+ system (all digital electronics integrated in the instrument head) or 6000+ with external 100/300 control computer, if the former, the options are opaque. Recently I have had a few problems with my 2003 (ST50...

Re: Under Helm and Rudder Maintenance

Rather than start a new thread I will post my question/observation here. When I was tightening the steering cables I went through the rear berth cover and then took the take up eyes locking nuts off the radial and reached in with my phone to take a picture and count the threads (as shown) so that I ...

Re: Questions about shipping a 350 over the road

I’m retiring later this year - 16 year owner - at some point over the years I’ve worked on every maintenance item on the boat - been from San Francisco to Baja California and back - would love to crew on a 350 on an east coast journey. If you find a boat that needs moving by sea I would be interested.

Re: Oberdorfer repair instructions

I just searched for that video and between 2022 when I did the job and now it has gone and I searched around a bit and it didn’t appear to be anywhere else. The problem with that video was it showed the chap hammering the lip seals both out and in which, with installing the new seals is fraught with...

Re: Mainsheet Cam Cleat Replaced By Rope Clutch

Hi Bill, Could you at some point post one more picture - The mainsheet on the winch and under tension. I like the look of this and had lots of issues with the line jumping out of the racing cleat thing that came standard with the boat. But I'm curious if there is a lateral loading on that rope clutc...

Re: Lewmar Ocean Hatch Trapezoidal

I did call hatchmasters- they are about 80% of the cost of the lid assembly with a 4-6 week lead time. So I'm either going to buy a lens and try it myself or just buy the lid. Since I have the two identical main cabin hatches heavily crazed also, I'm toying with initially tackling those two by buyin...

Position of chartplotter

I'm looking at maybe buying an older chartplotter to add to my 2003 standard ST6000 series Raymarine as equipped from the factory and had a question.... Has anyone here fitted a chartplotter in the cockpit somewhere other than at the helm? I am looking at you tube videos of sailing and keep seeing c...

Re: Lewmar Ocean Hatch Trapezoidal

Greg, I'm not at my boat to be able to confirm that your assumption is correct and its Z 2227 (but the dimensions seem correct and I went spoke with someone at Catalina Direct a month back about which way to go on refurbishing and was at the same link) I could imagine nothing worse than having to sh...

Re: Epic sail- C350 flying…

Any tips on how you get the best speed when close hauled? What was the highest you can point (approx wind angle) with the 155 jib and new main. I can get 6+kt on with 135% jib on 15+kts of wind but up near/beyond the 45 degree point I'm still searching for optimum sail trim and trying small adjustme...

med mooring using the anchor

Anyone here able to give some specific advice on C350 anchoring? In my youth I would anchor a lot, but in my time with the C350 I can count on both hands (almost one) the number of times I have anchored in the past 15 years. I have some questions as I need this maneuver in the near future. If you ha...

Re: Genoa Furling Line Specs

I just wanted to follow up on the line lengths and sizes now that I got some from Cajun ropes in eastern Canada (great prices and service- free shipping to USA). Mainsheet 1/2" x 75ft I could have gone shorter but I went with 75ft to have plenty of excess so that even with the boom fully extend...

Re: Oberdorfer 202m-908

Just following up on this I spoke with Depco in Florida and ruminated on it for a year or two, but after reading a story in Mainsheet of a 15 year old impeller failure it spurred me to act. Bottom line is as Depco and Russ above points out no water is acceptable in the long run. For the water to exi...

Re: Genoa Furling Line Specs

That 7/16" genoa diameter doesn't work with the Schaeffer 2100 furler that came with my boat. With hindsight, the Schaeffer website says 5/16"maximum, and the two small holes on the top of the furler drum cannot accept a 7/16 diameter after the end has been heat sealed and whipped, with my...

I am currently looking at replacing the furling line and also the jib sheets and in trawling for info re sizing thought it best to post to this thread as its handy with all the sizes provided. Re the furling line if both 5/16 and 7/16 are useable I guess there is no disadvantage with going with the ...
