Halyard Bags
Hello! Has anyone had experience replacing their cabin-top halyard bags from Catalina Direct? CD shows the bags for the C350, part #BA9509. The dimensions they give match what I have (hull 437), but their port and starboard are reversed. We have the larger bags on the port side and smaller ones on s...

Running Light Wiring?
Greetings all. My port (red) running light stopped working. The green and white stern light work fine. When I took off the cover I found the wiring on the inside quite corroded with one terminal corroded off. Easy fix....given how corroded it was, I ordered a new fixture, installed it, wired it up a...

Re: Batteries 2022 - how to get EGC2 when Sam's is out
We also use the Duracell golf cart batteries and in the past have also gotten them at Sam's Club. After reading the last post, I did a quick check at Batteries Plus and they are also available there at about $160 minus the $22 core replacement (in the southern VA area). That may be another option is...

Re: Alarm buzzer mystery
Check your oil pressure cut-off switch. Should be on the bottom left side of the engine about midway back. There are two blade connectors- one is in a circuit with the buzzer, the other to the fuel lift pump. The idea is if oil pressure drops the circuits open giving the buzzer and the engine shuts ...

Re: Bilge Pump System
We make a practice of closing all sea valves whenever we are not using that particular intake. I know this may not be practical if you are a live-aboard, but the shower in particular seems more vulnerable to the problem as described. We just open the valve when using the shower and close when done. ...

Re: C350 mast air draft
The C350 specs show a mast height of 52.5'. Add to that antennas, windex, anything your boat may have attached to the top of the mast. I use 55' as a working height.

Re: Bilge pumps
Norm: To answer your question about what we replaced. I did not replace the entire discharge line, just from the discharge line to the bilge pump. I am not entirely happy with the type of flexible hose but it is what I was able to fit into the space. I did need to use an adapter to marry it up with ...

Re: Bilge pumps
As you have seen, there are mixed reviews on bilge pump check valves. The argument for them is to prevent exactly what you are seeing, the bilge pump cannot completely clear the discharge line (too high a lift for the size of the Rule pump) so a check valve will prevent the remaining water from drai...

Re: ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SHUTDOWN SWTICH
Thanks. I had not thought of a large socket. I managed to get it out using medium size vice grips and small turns once it broke free. I'll use the old one to size a socket for next time.

ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SHUTDOWN SWTICH
Hello All! I need to replace my oil pressure shutdown switch. One of the connection blades has snapped off into the connector wire on the alarm side opening the circuit and causing the alarm to sound (buzzer and light). Engine was running normally, starts normally and oil levels are OK so I am prett...

Re: The perfect Boat
Also a fan of golf cart batteries for their ease of installation (and replacement), availability (got ours at Sams Club) and price. As to lifting out the larger originals, wife and I did that on our own without any blocks, tackles or special setups. Just lifted them out and slowly up the steps and o...

Another Tachometer Problem
Hi all. I have just begun experiencing problems with my tachometer. I know there have been several posts regarding problems with tachometers. I've read through them and haven't found similar symptoms to what mine just started doing. Tach has been working well for the 5 years we've owned the boat (th...

Re: Genoa Furling Line Specs
We just replaced the furling line for our jib furler. We purchased 90' of 5/16 and found that the 70' mentioned was sufficient (for a 135 genoa). We did find that the new line was a bit difficult to thread into the furler but did get it through the holes by angling the ends. The new line was also qu...

COOLANT RECOVERY HOSE SIZE
I know the issue of the hose connecting the engine to the coolant recovery tank has been addressed before. However, I could not find the diameter of the hose. I "think" it is 5/16 but am not at the boat and wasn't sure. The Westerbeke part listing (#024977) does not show diameter, just len...

Re: Slip width
Leave the rub rails! That's what they are for. We spent several years in a 14' slip and yes, it is tight but doable. I assume there is a piling that marks the "open" side of the slip, depending on wind we would at times rub a bit coming and going but usually could slide through. We also pl...

Re: Check your hose!
I have replaced the coolant overflow hose 3 times now (in 4 years). Even with trying to "insulate" it against rubbing on hot engine parts it seems to deteriorate quickly. I have always used the hose from Westerbeke/Universal but would really like to use something a bit more substantial. Ha...

Greetings. For those who made a gasket for the inspection cover on the bow... what material did you use? Thickness? I've tried some silicone sealant but like the idea of a gasket to see if that keeps water out. Thanks!

Re: Fix for PSS Dripless Shaft Seal Leak
Yet another leaking PSS shaft seal question... our shaft seal has begun leaking...again. It happened to a lesser degree a couple years ago but after burping, flushing and cleaning it all dried up. We were completely dry all last year! All of a sudden the leaks started again and at a greater rate. Af...
