Re: 2 small thru hulls on Starboard side of hull
As I recall, the hull and backing block was about 1" thick plus allow for the threads of the fitting your are looking at about 2" . I don't recall if I trimmed the length to install. The 1-1/2" anchor well drain, once removed gave the dimensions. You have more room for the install in ...

Re: 2 small thru hulls on Starboard side of hull
I have replaced the two 3/4" drains from inside the bottom of the starboard cockpit locker ( tight fit) and some what hard to swing a tool to take them out. The replacements are SS and wont suffer the sun degradation that the originals had. Found the SS fittings on Ebay. I also replaced the anc...

Re: Cutlass bearing replacement
Bill et al, I have replaced the cutless bearing by the way of removing the rear shaft flange and releasing the shaft seal parts allowing the shaft to slide aft. - removing the grub screws holding the bearing in the stern tube and carefully pulling out the bearing. Once the bearing is out, the shaft ...

Re: Rub Rail Aluminum
I have a complete rub rail Al. extrusion replacement for my 2004 350 which I never installed. The Catalina 350 used two sizes of rub rail. This replacement is the current size which does not fit the old rubber insert. Slight width change. If you need it I will part with it as I don't think I will ge...

Re: Are boats covered in Washington state?
I tried a non cover and cover option and liked the cover far better than leaving the boat unprotected. The boat spends winter in southern New Jersey. Not only does the cover protect the boat from the sun, rain, snow, and ice it also keeps the bird droppings from staining the deck and hatches. a big ...

Re: Water Dripping From Bottom of Rudder - hairline crack
I have dropper my rudder while on the hard by digging a hole under the rudder and dropping it into the hole. About +/- one foot deep.
This provided enough room to remove the rudder completely.
Lots of luck. P.S. boat was on gravel... The yard had no problem with the hole if I filled it in.

Re: Shore Power Alternating Current Main Panel
In my boat, the two input shore power cables go to the one AC panel but are separated. The Air conditioner/heater is dedicated to one of the power cable inputs and the rest of the AC loads are fed from the other shore power cable. You have a wiring diagram of this in the owners manual. If you are no...

Re: Recommended Prop for 2003 C350 Hull #124
I have had my KIWI prop for over 10 years and noticed some added benefits of the install. i. Because of the design of the hub of the KIWI Prop, the prop blades are further aft of the deadwood I think improving flow and efficiency. 2. The clearance from the blade tips to the hull is wider also improv...

Re: RPM Gauge not working
the engine RPM gets it's signal from the alternator tap. If the alternator works and you show about 13 + volts with the engine running, then the most likely culprit is the rotary switch on the back of the tachometer (multi position rotary switch) make note of the number position and turn it several ...

Re: Fuel Gauge Issue?
The problem as I see it is that the tank is not linear or symmetrical. It is wider on the top few inches and then tapers, The fuel sender appears to be linear, that is one inch of fluid level change corresponds to a linear change of indicated fuel level. My solution to this problem was to empty the ...

Re: Urgent Question - Boot Stripe
Dan, The grub screws are removed and the old cutlass bearing is slowly twisted and pulled out of the housing. I used a channel lock pliers. No need to remove the rudder. If you are replacing the prop shaft, remove the cutlass bearing and the internal shaft flange allowing the shaft to move rearward ...

Re: Hot Water Temperature
A while ago I mentioned a small coolant leak that was very hard to find. It was one of the two screws/bolts ( the longer one) holding the alternator bracket to the block where one of the threaded holes went into the water jacket. A small leak that evaporates because of the heat of the engine leaving...

Don't forget the VHF antenna!!!
My air draft is 54.5' tested with a twang from the antenna on the bottom of a bridge.
The fender boards at the bridge had the depth indicated at 54.5'.
that was a 10X pucker!!!

Re: De-lamination of engine cover assembly behind stairs
Alex, I used very thin epoxy and lots of clamps to re-glue the bottom of the engine cover. Invert the cover and apply with a syringe and let it cure. Give it time to sink in and reapply if necessary. to fill the voids. My root cause of the delamination was water from the water pump wetting the grove...

Trevor, I fitted a KIWI Prop in 2010 to my C350 with a Universal M35B engine. The transmission is a 1.88:1 and I run at 2350- rpm. My wide open throttle rpm is 3000 under load in flat seas. No black smoke. Fuel consumption is about .5 gph at 2350. ( the sweet spot for specific fuel consumption for m...

Re: Mando Alternator
Hello all. Keep in mind that the drive belt will not drive alternators much above about 75 amps with out producing heavy dusting and excessive belt ware. The better solution is a larger alternator with an external three stage smart regulator. This will charge the batteries faster. The ultimate fix i...

Re: I need a new engine!! ugh
I got the red one. A little spray paint and poof, it is silver/blue.
The part fit and works fine.
You still need to find the root cause of water intrusion.

Re: I need a new engine!! ugh
Mark, I don't know of a simple way to check the condition of the inner walls of the exhaust elbow without cutting it in half. I thought it was a matter of time and exposure to salt water that prompted the destructive testing. Maybe some one has a better way of checking the inner wall thickness. Glad...

Re: I need a new engine!! ugh
I believe the basic engine block is a Kubota V-1305. Used complete engines are on Ebay for about $ 3K. Your engine can be removed and rebuilt is the second option with new pistons, sleeves and valves. . But you should find the root cause of the water intrusion as a first step. I have removed my exha...
