Re: Raymarine ST60 and I50 Instruments

I'm about 99% sure you will find that it is in fact the transducer.
I experienced the same in shallow water ---- my West Marine store trusted me with a new instrument to test the transducer with the same edict readings, changed the transducer and working perfect the past four years.

Re: Deck Light Pre-Wiring?

Replaced mine, found it at Menard, probably could find same at Home Depot if you don't have a Menard. It's a cone like fixture and plugs in.

Micro Wave Oven

My 350 was delivered without a micro wave oven, the other day I was making some popcorn on the stove (the old fashion way) and got to thinking popping a bag into a micro wave would be much easier and being the bag is sealed it would stay fresher longer than a jar of popcorn? Question I have for thos...

Re: Function of Fuel Lift Pump

I had a problem with my lift pump / engine would not start sooo went out and found a new one, installed it, engine strat immediately. When removing orginal pump placed it in a cut off plastic jug and a little fuel came out --- with dirt particles so shook, blew out pump, replaced the new one with ol...

Re: Windlass service is easy, and I found a leak

Ken, you are right on as to removing unit -------- might add if you don't have a leak don't remove electric motor from gear box as this is where most leaks are a problem with aligning shaft with gear box and problem arises from rubber O-ring going out of round and leaking (I had this happen twice, o...

Re: cockpit enclosures

If you want a great addition to your canvas for those days you want shade but also an air flow, I had my guy make a full screen connector from the dodger to binimi using the canvas connector as the pattern but using only enough canvas to attach the zippers. It's a quick change should the weather cau...

Re: Engine - transmission

Congrads for being able to find what your potential problem is / was ------- I always had problems in checking the fluid levels using the dip stick because fluild is so transparent that it was hard to see the level so what I did was mark a small diameter wood dow rod using the dip stick markings as ...

Re: Engine - transmission

Don't want to cause you concern and agree with first checking out your linkage but next issue may be your "damper plate" located in the bell housing. When I had a simlar issue with the transmission engaging in forward SLOWLEY but would engage in reverse immediately my problem was the dampe...

Re: Folding Prop - Gori 3 Blade

This has been an interesting exchange of comments concerning using the folding Gori prop as the answer to our prop (cavition) issues. I to had the 15x9 standard prop on my C350 (hull #293) with a severe cavitation issue anytime over 1800 rpm's with a head sea. I changed to the current 14x10 prop rec...

Re: Oil leak from Maxwell windlass

You can find the oil at any auto parts store, unfortunately only way to add oil is to take the gear box off and fill thru site glass --- at least that is the only way I could figure out how to do this. Being that I live aboard and travel (anchor) a lot, don't think orginally the leak in my case is f...

Re: Oil leak from Maxwell windlass

I was able to order the seal "kit" thru West Marine, my leak was coming from the seal between the gear box and electric motor, appears that when the motor was mounted it wasn't flush causing the seal to go "out of round" and had a slow leak. Was an easy project but need two peopl...

Re: The Demise of the Catalina 350

Layout kind of reminds me of a C34 (I had one for five years), liked the aft head for easy access underway, wonder with low profile cabin top will they maintain head room below, important to me being 6'3" (34 vs 350), wonder if they are doing anything will hull design from waterline down i.e. w...

Re: Replacement fresh water pump suggestions?

You might want to tighten the screws that mount your pump to the wall of the cabinet under the sink. I had to remove my pump for a problem, when testing for the fix the motor and pump just hummed, when I reattached the pump tightening the screws was surprised at how quiet it was. There are rubber &q...

Re: Dinghy davits (again)

Kato in Annapolis is the BEST, I don't have a contact # with me but when i get back to the boat can look it up. If you contact them they will / can send you pictures of a Catalina 350 installed. Recommend if you get them or any davits use a six to one block to lift, I carry a 9 1/2 dingy with 8 HP m...

Re: ENGINE NOISE-DAMPER REPLACEMENT?

Know this posting is somewhat dated but ----- had an issue with my damper plate (transmission) 2005 model, 2400 hours, with final issue of barely going in gear. Started out with noise but not to bad, once RPM's increased either in gear or out ran without a problem. Not sure now if it was a damper pr...

For those of you that already have a Panda or are thinking of installing one, this was a great reccommendation from a crack Panda mechanic found in Annapolis that I was fortunate enough to have work on mine. If you have to replace a bad water pump impeller, the manual shows that you just take the ba...

Re: Stowage and stern lockers

F.Y.I. a milk crate will fit thru opening on stern lockers, great way to store extra lines or items you don't need very often. Yes the Panda will fit thru opening in port side locker but you have to unpack the unit from it's "suit case" drain the oil and lower thru the opening on an angle....
