Re: Nextgen 3.5KW
That's for the replies earlier this year. We held off last Spring so I never got back to them. But we just bought the 3.5 at that Annapolis Sailboat show so we are going to install it in the next few weeks. SO...where did people install the water intake and exaust through-hulls? Do you have any pict...

Nextgen 3.5KW
Has anyone installed a Nextgen genset into their 350? We've been toying with the idea for the past two years and are getting close to doing the install. I would like any tips if anyone has done it.
Thanks,

Kato Island Dinghy Davits
Hi everyone. I'm planning on buying a set of Kato davits for our 350. We installed the Kato engine hoist last year and it sure made things a alot easier. Kato was easy to deal with as well...so we figured we would use their davits. I've seen a picture on their website of a 350 with them installed. I...

Re: Water in transducer compartment (forward cabin)
We have the same problem (hull #261) and haven't yet found the source of the water. It doesn't seem to be salt water and we have noticed it after sailng and sometimes after rain. We have a tendency to fill the forward water tank until it's FULL and I'm wondering if it's some spillover. If anyone has...

Re: Scratch on table top
When we bought our boat in Nov. 2009, the table top had a lot of marks on it. We decided to send it back to Catalina and they refinished it and sent it back. It came out beautiful! Now we are pretty careful to put down placemats or coasters...but love the way it looks. It wasn't too expensive either...

Re: How far can we go?
Well, now that we've owned the boat for two seasons...I'll report that this past summer was the best I've ever had from a sailing standpoint. We took the boat on a three week trip up the Long Island Sound, to Mystic, Ct., then to Narragansette (sp?) Bay Rhode Island (Wickford & Jamestown), went ...

Re: sail trim and selection - heavier air
We sailed in moderate winds this summer (20 - 30 kts) and found that reefing in the main to about 50% (it's got the in mast furling) and reefing the jib down to about 40% kept the boat sailing very well and fast. We spent about 8 hours sailing from Newport to Mystic, CT in rain and heavy downpours w...

HELP!! In mast furling clunks
This is our second season with the boat (hull #261). Our Charlston Spar -- in mast furliing -- worked great last year...this year...the sail and furler when furled clunks in the mast when the boat rocks. It's LOUD clunk! Does anyone have any knowledge about what could cause this?? The sail and furli...

Just curious how long it takes to make hot water with the factory installed hot water heater. We just purchased a Honda 2000i and have yet to use it.

Re: Honda 2000i
We just bought a Honda 2000i to use for making hot water while on our mooring. Has anyone had problems with gas fumes when storing it in a locker while not in use? I have a friend who uses the 1000 all the time and says he's never had a problem with it. Just curious. David V. #261 Electric Ladyland

Re: Fix for leaking salon sidelights
For starters, I would suggest pouring water (maybe running a garden hose on low volume) over the portlights you suspect are leaking to determine if it is indeed a leak from there and not coming into the cabin from a screw or fitting. If you're sure it's coming from the salon portlights then here's s...

Just reading your posts. I usually assist in this operation and keep plenty of Bounty paper towels on hand and a garbage pail ready in case of spills or drips.
Glad it went well!

Re: Cutless Beaqring
We may be replacing our cutlass bearing. We have the original phenolic cutlass bearing in place now and the bronze Morse Bonito to replace it with. Are there any owners who have replaced it themselves? Was anyone able to successfully pull the old one out and if so...how did you do it? Do the two pin...

cutlass bearing play
Does anyone know how much play is acceptable in the cutlass bearing. And what is the proceedure for replacing the cutlass bearing on the 350 Mk I that has the fiberglass stern tube in the skeg? We have a little bit of wiggle that started just at the very end of last season...we think this was due to...

Optional Water Tank
Hello All.
I'm planning installing the optional third water tank that fits under the port settee. Has anyone done this? Any pictures or information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Auto helm installation
Hello everyone. Hope you are having a great winter. I am going to install a Raymarine Smart pilot auto helm on my 350. Does anyone have photos of your autohelm so I can see where the mounting of the linear drive unit and other components are mounted? I have seen the photos someone posted a while bac...

Re: How far can we go?
I guess since no one has responded, it means no one (who as looked at this post) has taken their 350 offshore? Does everyone sail in a bay or inland waterway? Is it true that we shouldn't venture far in these boats?

Re: Question from potential owner
By the way, Electric Ladyland is a wing keel. I have had fin keels in the past and haven't noticed a problem in pointing with a wing keel. I suppose it is possible that you lose a few degrees when heading up with a wing instead of a fin, but it must be very slight.

Re: Question from potential owner
Hi Bill. My sailing partner and I bought a 2004 350 MkI last November. We saw the 350 Mark II at the Annapolis boat show two years ago and fell in love with it. We had previously owned a Catalina 30 tall rig and sailed it for a few seasons on the LI Sound, out to Block Island and into some of the to...

How far can we go?
I had a great time sailing our 350MkI this season and did head out in 25 to 30kt winds over Labor Day weekend. The boat handled it just fine with some shortened canvas. While I know there will always be storm conditions and wave heights that the boat can't handle...I'm curious how far people have go...
