Re: Ideal (or better) reefing line routing?

Thanks for the suggestions. We do always ease the mainsheet as we reef, but hadn't considered easing the vang. The reef-line still pulls more horizontally than vertically as the leech gets closers to the boom and never quite pulls it down to the boom so we end up jumping on the deck and adding the t...

Re: Ideal (or better) reefing line routing?

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, my main isn't set up for lazy jacks, it's set up with a dutchman flaking. Personally, I think I'd prefer the lazy jacks at this point, but not ready to re-invest in a new main. When you say you run the reef-line up to the cringle and then fwd to cringle at ...

Ideal (or better) reefing line routing?

Wondering if someone a) has pictures of how their reefing line is rigged along the boom and b) if anyone has come up with a better reefing system? My reefing line (inherited) doesn't seem to be ideal. It is currently run from the cockpit, up to the base of the mast, up the mast thru the first reef p...

Re: Genoa sheets length and size

I just replaced mine. Used 7/16 @ 100' in a single line config using a cow-hitch on the sail. Been racing that way for several weeks with no issues, though I did consider ½" for slightly easier line grip. The first day I had the new line on the boat it was a bit slippery and needed an extra wra...

Re: Refrigerator & freezer hatch door insulation upgrade hel

Where did you get the new deeper panels and when? I know Catalina offered them a number of years ago but I assumed they were long gone. Also, how much did they cost you? This is an upgrade I would like to do as I believe I still have the old panels (hull #229) I actually ordered them about two year...

Galley sink loses water pressure on 2 of 3 tanks

Hi all, I'm not much of a plumber so excuse me if there's an obvious answer to this. When I have the main (forward) water tank turned off (or empty) the water pressure in the galley sink drops to almost a dribble even though the other two tanks (mid & aft) are full and open. At the same time, th...

Thanks, that helps a lot! How did you get the positioning correct of the new panel on the freezer? The fridge I figure I can hold from below thru the front door to align it, but not sure how I'll do the freezer...

Refrigerator & freezer hatch door insulation upgrade help?

Hi all, I received the new (improved?) insulation panels for the underside of the refrigerator and freezer hatch covers but am not sure how to remove the old ones without damaging the doors. Is there a special tool or some social solvent or something? Can anyone help me understand the best method to...

Re: Prop Cavitation

I bought that same Flexo-fold prop about two years ago and have been very happy with it. Still get great performance. Would definitely buy it again.
Can't speak to an 'extended shaft' since I'm not sure what you're referring to there. Hope that helps.

Re: Looking to Purchase 350

We have Hull #55 also a 2003 and we LOVE it. We're in Southern California. The fridge was a bit of an issue, but I bought some spray-insulation and covered up the interior space that was unusable (under-side-corners and such) and since then it's been a lot better. Replaced the prop with a Flexo-fold...

Re: A/C with a Honda 2000i

I've had the 2000i with the 30 amp plug for about a year and love it. I don't have A/C, I just plug straight into the boats shore power plug (no adapter needed) and power the whole boat. It's enough to heat the water, charge the batteries, run the microwave, and/or watch TV. It's been great!

Re: Honda 2000i

Just curious how long it takes to make hot water with the factory installed hot water heater. We just purchased a Honda 2000i and have yet to use it. David Volkman #261 We've been using our EU model for about a year and find about 15 to 20 minutes of generator gives us plenty of hot water for two t...

What oil for the companionway hatch boards?

Hi all,

The hatch boards for the companionway on our boat (hull #55) are in serious need of some restorative oil. They're very dried out. Can anyone recommend what type/brand of oil to use and how often to keep them looking good?

Replacement Fill Cap for Diesel?

HELP! Our fill cap for the fill hose for deisel was deep-sixed by an idiot fuel-dock employee. I rushed out to my local west-marine and bought a "standard" fill cap to replace it but it didn't fit (it was too big)! Now I don't know what size the 350 (original mark-I, 2003) is using and whe...
